I'm replaying The Longest Journey on WinXP. I was doing fine until I tried to enter the Police Station. This is the part where the hover craft has crashed. April needs to get into the Police Station. She runs up the stairs and then the scene cuts to a robot inside, the action freezes and the games quits. I can't get past that part. I have seen some patches for this game but haven't been successful installing tlj-patch-156.exe as I get an error message: Could not find the 2 CD version fo The Longest Journey in the specifie directory. My game actually came with 4 CD's. Is that the problem? Is there a patch that anyone knows of that's for the 4 CD game? Or does someone have a saved game that begins after April enters the police station? Thanks. crazy

Hi Erinus,

You can get around this problem by not using the steps at all. Enter the police station via the moving trash cart outside in the street instead. You'll miss the scene with the robot but at least you'll be able to progress. luck

Edit: I just found the patch for the 4-disc version on my own hard drive -- would you like me to e-mail it across to you?

Sure, that would be great about the patch. I'll also try the "get around" you mentioned above regarding the trash cart. I wondered what I was supposed to do about that....

Here's the result. I decided to avoid the stairs to the police station and figure out how to get in a different way. So I moved the road block and entered the station via the dumpster. Whew! On with the game....

Thanks for the patch, Rushes. I'll get that installed later today.

Thanks for your help but I'm wondering about the patch you sent. I didn't try to open the patch yesterday, and today I'm finding that I don't have access to the attachment. Looks like my email, Outlook Express, removed access to the attachment which it deemed was unsafe. How can I get TLJ_PoliceStationFix.exe? What problem does it address anyway? I'm at the police station in the locker room and can't seem to get the guy in the stall to give up his "eye." I'm assuming April needs his eye to use on the retinal scanner at the Archives door. Is this the dead-end that the patch is supposed to fix?

The fix only addresses the issue with the robot at the police station, as far as I know. Gameplay otherwise won't be affected -- I've played the game several times without installing the fix or having any dialogue with the robot and it's been fine.

I actually located that fix file on one of the 4 installation disks -- so you'll likely find it on one of those if you have a search. smile But as you're already steaming ahead it shouldn't matter.

Ok, Thanks. I'll keep wracking my brain to figure out the locker room issue. I don't want to resort to a WT unless absolutely necessary. It's a wonderful game but I haven't played it since it first came out and that was a while ago.
