OK, now I'm stuck. If anyone figures out the ice caves, please give a girl a hint. I'm pulling my hair out. This was my least favorite part of the original.

EDIT: Figured it out finally.

SpaghettiStraps, you should now be home free...until you get to the path to the castle (that part took be about 20 minutes, my advice, if you haven't gotten there yet, is save often, and watch Alex's feet wink )

I just finished it. Didn't make a perfect score, but 206/210 isn't bad. Wonder what I missed, though. Do the awards at the end after the credits mean anything? I accidentally clicked out of them.

Hi smile

I'm still experimenting with this new version but for the time being have done all the chores and explored the whole house - stealing everything I could lay my hands on and hiding it under my bed !!
[I stole the magic wand, too, but got killed for that, of course, so had to go back to a previous save. But obviously I can always steal it again snicker]

I've also fed the wizard once AND briefly visited the Bear's house - and the Shop, Inn and Library in the village - but achieved nothing of note.

Oh, and I've grabbed some cat fur too thumbsup

However, with my old KQ3 walkthrough not of much use, I'm not sure what to attempt next ??

The wizard is asleep at the moment so I know I should be doing something ....

If anyone would like to drop a hint, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks.

Cheers.

I have climbed up through the window of the old library in the village and picked up the book from the floor. The code to the trapdoor lever puzzle is on one of the pages. At least I've done THAT much without a walkthrough so far. YAY!

Many parts stay true to the original. You need to find the lever to open the door in the wizard's study. It's located in much the same area as the first version. If you found anything of note in the library, it should help you with this part. Hope this helps.

EDIT: You posted as I was writing that. haha.

BTW, I think you'll find this game is pretty easy to figure out without a walkthrough. Usually I get lazy and lean pretty heavily on them, but I had to go it more or less alone this time because everybody else was just starting as well.

Hi smile

Thanks for your replies happydance

Yes. I had found the levers in the office bookcase but of course had no way of knowing the order in which they should be moved.

And I did get as far as climbing up to the library window - but couldn't get further because my "time" turned red and I had to dash back to slavery lol

[I had hoped my magic map might whisk me all the way but it didn't and so I was hard pressed to make it before .... you know what !!!!]

I guess I ought to return to the library then.

Thanks thumbsup

Cheers.

Don't forget to take something with you in order to get the library window open, MAD.

I don't think the awards mean anything, just kinda an added bonus. I just finished playing the game for the third time, and this time (unlike time 1 & 2) I got a perfect score. My first 2 tries at the game, I got a 206 so what I missed may be what you missed.

What I had missed was Manannan's letter and spying on the bandits. Spying on the bandits is worth 3 points, and the letter is worth 1.

Manannan's letter is actually the only bit that really annoyed me about this otherwise excellent release, as it reminded me of what was most annoying about those old Sierra games: the need to do arbitrary or bizarre things to earn a point or two.

It's similar to the wolfbane from AGD's KQ2, where you have to detour from a rather urgent matter for no compelling reason to a house you know is empty in order to acquire an item you have no reason to think exists or will prove useful, just as here you have to repeatedly search Manannan's personal papers like an OCD sufferer off their meds to find a letter that you had no reason to be looking for and means nothing to your character. These sorts of things really detract from the immersive experience of the game, just as badly as waiting for an eagle to drop a feather or a pirate to sight land.

And yes, I'm also curious about the awards. I managed to get my playtime under 35 mins with a perfect score and only managed a Grudge and Insomniac award. What's a sister got to do to earn herself a Legenimor?

Lol! I took so long to finish that I got two pages of awards, including a Goldilocks award, I assume for going back for something so often! Be glad you only got two, it means you're a great player. wink

Gil.

Oh, yeah, forgot to say that I'm totally with you on the wolfbane.

Did you acquire "The Item" (it's even referred to as that in the game) The third time I played the game, I got a perfect score and got this and it was the only time I got Legenimor, so I'm guessing that's its trigger

Do you mean the green orb? If no, then probably not... I assumed 'the Item' was the sort of plot point that would carry through until the end of AGD's Legenimor arc.

The Item is actually a small statuette that looks like 2 cupped hands. It's in Seran's chest with the green orb, you just have to click through the gold to find it.

When you do get that, when you're in the castle with Graham and Valanice, it does alter (add to) the ending a bit, and it's quite nice

Okay, I feel really stupid but I'm stuck. I have my items back from the chest in the captain's quarters, but if I go out the back or up to the deck I end up walking the plank. If I try using any potions the ship sinks or it says I can't use those yet. Help!

Lillia, I don't know how much help you want. Let's start here. You have something in your inventory that has to be used in a dark, damp place. It will help you.

Gil.

Thanks! I just wasn't standing in the right place until you reminded me of the dark aspect. Just finished it. I won the Molasses, Neat Freak, and Mr. Bigglesworth Awards. Woot!

Congrats on finishing the game, Lillia. Out of curiosity, what score did you finish with?
