If it's supposed to show a cut scene at that point, and there's something wrong with the file that contains the cut scene, then you might get a white screen. So an uninstall/reinstall might help. Make sure the game installer is run in administrator mode.

You might also try reinstalling the DX Studio Player they mention on the ***Baron Wittard support page***.

Or if you have an antivirus running in the background, it might be scanning or blocking what the game is trying to do at that point. In that case disabling the real-time scanning on the antivirus might help.

Sounds like it could be the result of a corrupt file or an installation that went wrong. I recommend un-installing and then re-installing the game. Please be sure to re-install in administrator mode, granting the exe permission when and if it requests it.

I also recommend updating your graphics card drivers.

The latest ATI/AMD card drivers can be found here:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

The latest nVidia card drivers can be found here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

If you have neither an AMD/ATI card nor an nVidia card, then please ensure your graphics card meets the minimum system requirements: "128 Mb graphics card with Shader Model 2.0".

If you do not wish to try any of the above solutions, and if the game allows you to continue playing with the white screen still visible, you can probably still exit that screen and move to the previous by moving the mouse cursor to the screen bottom and then clicking to exit when the cursor changes to the "Exit cursor", just as you can exit most other close-up screens.

If the game crashes and exits to the desktop when the white screen appears, then I recommend checking to ensure that no anti-virus real-time scanner or file backup program is running while the game is being played, which could prevent the game from accessing its data files.

Hope this helps.

I've managed to advance a little bit more but it's still becoming white again.I've tried to download the game again whithout any other program and it's still not working. Do you mean that I have to deactivate the anti-virus before playing the game?Even if I try to load a saved game, the screen is white again. Is there a possible patch that could help solve the problem? Thank you for trying to help me.Sali

Hello Sali,

There is no patch available for this game.

Quote:

This sounds like it could be one of three problems.

1. If the game screen turns white in only one place and always in that same place, then it does sound like a corrupt file issue, which re-installing should fix.

2. If the game turns white in different places and at different times BUT you can still play while the screen is white (such as moving the mouse), then it sounds to me like a graphics card related issue. The solution here might be to update your graphics card to the latest drivers, if you know the make and model of your card.

3. If however, your game screen turns white randomly AND then crashes to the desktop, it sounds like a conflict with other software. It sounds like an anti-virus or file monitoring program causing conflict. In this case, I recommend disabling that software (or some features of it) while playing the game.

I can help you further only by examining your DXDiag file. This file can be generated by clicking

Start | Run.
Enter "DXdiag". A dialog will appear.
Click the button "Save All Information".
Then send the generated text file to my support email address at: info@wittardgame.com

Hope this helps.

My screen turns white at different places but I cannot move the mouse. I found out that maybe it's related by number of clicks I did; because when I didn't clic 7 times on different objects I could clic 7 times more to go further than the first time the screen went white.I've closed all programs to install the game. The graphics card I have is Asus, N6200 256 MB / DDR. That's what is ritten on the box. Sali

Hello Sali.

Thank you for posting the details on your graphics card. After researching more on that card, I can confirm that it should be able to play Baron Wittard, provided your other system specifications are correct. Such as 1024Mb RAM (1GB) or higher and a 1 GHz processor or higher.

The issue might be resolved by updating the graphics card drivers for that card. The Asus N6200 uses the "nVidia GeForce 6200 GPU", from what I understand after researching it. You might want to try updating the card with the latest drivers for that card (Geforce 6 Series, 6200). You could try option 2 from their website "Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products".

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

If however, you have the latest graphics card drivers and if your system RAM is at least 1024Mb, then I can suggest only that perhaps your issue arises from a software conflict. That is, from a conflict of applications running on your system while the game is running at the same time. Such software that *might* cause conflict is Outlook, Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger, some anti-virus products, backup software such as AutoSave Essentials. My recommendation is to close as many of these applications as possible before running the game, and in the case of the anti-virus to disable real-time scanning if it has that option, or to put the anti-virus into "gamer mode" if it has that option. Without being present in person at your PC, it is difficult to diagnose an exact culprit there.

If all of this fails, I can only recommend attempting to run the game on a different computer, if you have one.

If you want me help you explore the possible causes and solutions to this problem further, then I will do my best. In this case, please use my email: info@wittardgame.com

Hope this helps.
