I really, really liked the first Drakensang and played it nearly to the end.

[It just got too difficult for me then (and so not fun) but I am not the world's best fighter lol]

I would certainly recommend it !! thumbsup

I loved the first Drakensang and plan to play the sequel. It has a few hard places, but you can come back later when it is easier or find a strategy that works.

You can read more about it in this thread:

http://www.gameboomers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/533625/1.html

I see that The River of Time is available from Steam at a great price. Is it available only by download?

I've checked every retail site I can think of, but it seems that it is not available on disk in the US.

I've been looking too, Pokey, but from the discussions HERE it doesn't look like there's going to be one frown

Well, I guess it will be Steam then. It is not that big a download at 2.3G. I have a slow internet connection.

I hear the Two Worlds 2 is looking good too.

Stop it !!!!

Temptation on all sides !!!!

rotfl rotfl rotfl

EDIT :

I don't want to use "Steam".
Would buying the download from "Gamersgate" be legal ??
[I download so few games - and certainly of the RPG genre - that I want to be sure I'm not doing anything wrong grin]

And would a Saved Game Editor work with a downloaded game ?? pacify

@ Mad

I'm not sure what you mean by 'legal'? However, I found this on Gamersgate's site:

http://www.gamersgate.com/info/terms-of-use

There is a point about the IP as registered trademarks.

Why don't you want to use Steam? To me, it is user friendly and you can play offline, if you want to.

Sadly, frown Radon Labs, the company and developers behind Drakensang went belly up after Drakensang: The River of Time. This means that at the current time the only way to get Drakensang: The River of Time is only availabe as a download in the US. There should be an expansion in the works for River of Time, maybe the game will be released on disc in the US then?

All was not lost, though; Radon Labs were bought by another company - a company that specializes in browser games, though.

Hi Karsten smile

Looks like Gamersgate doesn't have it, anyway.

Nor could I find it at Steam !!

Which doesn't mean they don't have it of course. I often can't find things on internet sites - even when they are staring me in the face lol

[I've seen quite a few people here at Gameboomers getting into difficulties with downloads from Steam. I've never been there myself but that has put me off using them. The last thing I want is to have to do techie meddling with anything eek]

Cheers.

Mad, it is available at Steam, but like every other download site I looked at, it is only for sale in the US, Canada and Mexico. Everywhere else, the page is blocked so you can't see it. I've had no problem with Steam and I have quite a few games in my library. Just about everyone seems to love it.

I was told that the game is available on disk from the Netherlands. I don't know what languages it supports.

Thanks for that info, Pokey, and the recommendation for Steam thumbsup

Maybe one of our members from The Netherlands will be able to tell us if there is an English language disk version of Drakensang 2 available there ....

I actually doubt there is or someone would already have told us by now, don't you think ?? frown

There was some discussion on a board about getting the game from The Netherlands (a UK gamer). This site was suggested and it looks like it has English as a language and subtitles, though I'm not certain.

http://www.azur.be/nl/catalog/detail/gam...n/4017244026204

Another site that has a list of places to get the game, though most don't ship to the UK.

Drakensang: River of Time http://www.budgetgaming.be/game-profile/drakensang:+the+river+of+time_PC.html

It is possible that it may show up sometime in the future at a download site you could use.

I think the Netherlands (or the Benelux countries) get the UK release? as the Scandinavavian countries do?

Mad, have you checked if it is available at amazon.co.uk

Or if you know German, you could always import the German version...

Pokey ..
I used an internet translater to read what was being said at that site and the game appears not to be in English, only to have English subtitles.
I don't think I could manage like that with an RPG - especially as the manual would probably not be in English either duh

Karsten ..
I've looked at all the UK on-line sites that I know of - including Amazon UK - and none are carrying the game.
And I don't know German so that's out too wink

Guess I'll have to pass on the game, for now, anyway rolleyes

Mad, I believe it has English as the language as well as the subtitles. I read somewhere that the games being sold in that area of the world were in English. The Azur site lists the subtitles as English and the language as English.

I corrected one of the links in my last post.

Where's a kindly "Netherlands" Gameboomer to sort this out for us ?? lol

@ Mad

I've asked and I gotten an answer smile

Brother, a fellow gamer from The Netherlands answered. Here's the posts from Brother None.

Brother None says:

Quote:
The Dutch version is a full English-language release: English box, English manual (90 pages), English game. It is bizarre that they translated and printed the manuals yet never released this retail version outside of the Benelux.

He also says this:

Quote:
Also, the game is not available in the UK. The mind boggles at this, but it's true. They can order it retail from a Benelux webshop, but that's it.

And here's the thread:
http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1061056192#post1061056192

So Mad it seems that you can safely order Drakensang - The River of Time from the webshop from The Netherlands.

PS: I trust Brother None as he is a long time fellow gamer, and Drakensang - The River of Time would be a game he would play. (as well, as of course, the original Drakensang released in 2008 in Europe].

NB: Isn't it amazing what human beings can do - if we work together towards a common goal...

After doing some searching, I haven't been able to find it eek

So can I ask for just a little more help, please ??

Thank you.

Hi Mad

Reposting Pokey's link here.

http://www.azur.be/nl/catalog/detail/gam...n/4017244026204

If you scroll down, you'll se that is says Taal (talk): Engels and undertitel: Engels which is, of course, English.

If you click this link and look at the button that says Nu Kopen (buy now) Then you'll get this page

http://www.azur.be/nl/aankopen/index

Here you'll have to input your emailadress

And after that I guess you'll need your credit card to actuall buy for the game. However, under the picture of the game it says 'specialle bestilling - mogelick langere levertijd' which means special order - possible longer delivery time.

Luckily, Dutch resembles Danish a bit, for instance, Kopen (buy) is køb in Danish.

After you have pressed the Nu Kopen button, the shopping cart in the upper right corner will show Mijn Winkelwagentje(my shopping cart) Just follow this link and you'll get this page:

http://www.azur.be/nl/winkelwagentje

Then click on the bestelling afronden button, which will give you this page:

http://www.azur.be/nl/aankopen/index

and type your email adress where it says
E-mailadress

After you've done this, you'll need to click on the volgende stap (next step) button.

And after you've done this, if you have ordered a game over a website, you should what to do. Luckily, the build-up of any website that sells games seems to be same for them all.

You're welcome to ask again, if you still can't but the game smile

Oh, and the price of around 22 Euros do not include 'versandkosten' that is the price of 22 Euros does not include any shipping costs.
