Has anyone played this? I've had it laying around for years and finally decided to play. I've just started so don't have much of an opinion yet -- it seems interesting, outside of the outdated photographs.

Anyway, if anyone has a great memory and has played it, I'm trying to figure out how to work the inventory and use things. What they say to do doesn't always work. I won't go into details unless someone posts they remember the game!

Hi Jean
You can check HERE for the walkthrus for this game. Also check out the weapons/spell items/monster guide section. It's below where the walkthru's are. It tells you what to do and how to do it. Hope it helps.

Thanks Cathy! I've been scrolling through the walkthroughs for info and they look good, if only I can figure out how to use the inventory items.

It says use F/V to scroll through inventory and them enter or Q to use item. However, I have yet to be able to use an item from the inventory. I'm not sure why -- I've tried numerous times, and that's the main problem I'm having. Not to be able to use something as basic as a health pack is kind of aggravating.

Well, I'll try again and see how it goes. Thanks so much!

I played it a couple of years ago and tested it for Windows 7 not long ago. I still have the game loaded, so I'll get my CD out and see if I can remember. I'm thinking I changed the keys to match what I'm more used to, but I can't remember for sure.

Thanks Drak! I think I did try changing it but the key didn't work. Maybe I should try another one. But in any case, if you load it and can give me tips on how to use the inventory I'd appreciate it. I can't figure out how to reload the gun either.

OK, I just got out of the game. It took me a while to remember, but here is how it works. I set my keys for previous and next inventory items to F and G. I use a CyberSnipa keyboard gamepad and that makes it nice and easy. When I press F, my inventory items show up in a small window on the left. Since I just started the game, I only have my revolver and my health packs. I set my "Use Inventory" key to E. So I make sure health packs is highlighted and press E and I can use a health pack. Using spells is a little trickier as they are in sort of a circle. I have two spells right now. But if I press my spell key (I set mine to R), I have to keep it held down while I cycle through the spells with right click to pick the one I want to use. They you let go of your spell key and use right click to use the spell. At least I think that's how it works.

This is a very, very good and scary game!

Thanks! I'll get back into the game and see if those work. As soon as my cat gets off my lap! He's decided that's where he wants to be for now -- hanging over my shoulder.

Wow I'm really lousy at this. I ended up in the chapel and keep getting killed. I get frustrated easily. If I can't figure it out I'll quit playing it. Sigh

0.o Thanks Cathy! I'm embarrassed at how I keep getting killed. I guess I"m slowing down, lol. I'll have to decide which one I want to use. Hmmm. Godmode or infinite health? lol

Join the club Jean! You realize that you've gotten me playing the game again, you naughty girl... grin

If you've gotten to the chapel, you're doing pretty well. As you get further into the game, you will be able to use some of those spells. I've already gotten killed about a dozen times. Hang in there!

I was in the chapel but since I kept getting killed loaded a saved game and went somewhere else. I ended up in that Oneiros place and had to look at the walkthrough to figure out how to get out of it.

Does anyone know how to actually use those cheat codes? I can't get them to work. It says to tab and type them in. I tried that for both the godmode and infinite health and nothing happened. Maybe the cheats were fixed or something.

I'll take a look at them and see if I can figure it out. Where are you getting killed - in the chapel? I forgot to get the Priest Key, so didn't do that one. I got killed about 20 times in the dark hallway, but finally got through. I did get to Onieros too and finally managed to get out. Once I got my Tibetan War Cannon for a weapon, it's been going much better. That darned thing scares me as much as the other monsters! I've found three Amplifiers and have amplified my Ectoplasm with all of them. So, I'm making good use of the Ectoplasm spell along with the Cannon.

I'm in the North Wing Upper Tower. I'm in a hallway where that red headed ghost knocks me back if I get too close. If I go through the doors to his left a bunch of things attack me. There are so many I usually die.

The walkthrough says to put one of those ether traps in front of him to snare him before picking up what's behind him, and then go through the doors. I think there's an amplifier behind him. When I get back on again I'll try it.

I'm just wandering around. Without a map it's kind of hard to figure out where I'm going.

I wish I could find my way back down again! I'd like to do the chapel and find the garden, but the darn doors keep shutting behind me!

I didn't seem to have found any ether traps, so I had to pass up that Amplifier. It took me numerous tries to get past all those Scarrows or whatever they call them. I do wish it had a map too.

Sorry I didn't get back earlier, but I started playing and forgot! I tried using a cheat and it worked for me. I just hit Tab and typed in a cheat code (Bring amplifier) and the amplifier appeared.

I'm close to the garden, but not there yet.

I just went in and tried some of the codes and they worked! I've amplified my spells and gotten myself some health packs.

I still can't get god mode and infinite health to work, though. Maybe that was disabled.

Thanks Drak!

I might get some time tonight to play a bit and I'll see if god mode will work. I think I can make it through if I have some of the others though. I know I finished the game the first time with no cheats at all!

Undying is one of my favourite games of all time. Yes it can be difficult, and hard to get used to the controls, (just remap until you find something that works for you), however I love the blend of FPS/RPG elements to it. I remember one part in it, (it's been a while), where you go through a corridor and the game takes away all control from you, and "zooms" you to a different area. Scared the [blip] out of me the first time I played it!

Try not to use any cheat codes until the very end "boss" fight. That is ridiculously hard.

I put the game down and got sidetracked by other games since I started this thread. it's good, but really creepy! I'll get back to it again someday.
