Yes, Lighthouse Interactive did shut down in 2009. Source: http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/03/25/lighthouse-interactive-shuts-down/I have this game, and on the back of the box is listed Dtp Entertainment AG - and Artematica Entertainment as well. A search for the game on dtp entertainment found nothing: http://www.dtp-entertainment.com/en/game...p;search=BeliefA search for the game on Artematica Entertainment found this: http://www.artematica.com/index.php?sezione=gamesJonathan Danter (belief and betrayal). Artmeatica is the developer of the game. Here's a way to contact them: http://www.artematica.com/index.php?sezione=contactsDon't know if they'll answer, though... Edit: In the thread *jowood - game over* - I'm telling about Jowood shutting its doors. And as I understand it, Jowood is the parent company of Dreamcather, The Adventure Company, and thus also the adventure shop?

Hi, If you haven't tossed the game in the garbage, as a Last Resort, since you legaly bought the game, you could try a NoCD fix, it bypass' the need for activation code, on the negative side, the only NOCD fix available is for the German version, but hey, it is worth a try, just do a Google search:
Belief and Betrayal nocd fix
Good luck Ray

Hi alfoil, First off, definitely follow Jenny100’s advice, she is a Computer Whiz and knows her way around computers. The No CD fix is misleading in a way because one assumes that it only works for games that come on CDs or DVDs, but they also work with downloaded games. I am also surprised that the search came up with nothing: http://www.google.ca/webhp?hl=en#hl=en&a...07285facdd7e541So again, good luck in solving your problem

Hello, Everyone. I have a rather weird problem playing Belief & Betrayal. The game seems to run fine, so does the mouse. Thus, I can Save, read the Diary, use the Communicator, in short everything you can do with a mouse. But I can't seem to do anything that involves the Keyboard: use the Esc to go to the Main Menu or the Spacebar to see all the interactive areas/objects. This is really frustrating since I have to use the Windows icon on the keyboard to minimize the game, then close the game, and then re-launch it all over from the desktop icon, just to load a previous save! And not being able to use the Spacebar is quite an obstacle too, considering how many "irrelevant" objects there are in practically every chapter, makes you miss the one critical item you need! I would really appreciate any help anyone can give, and as soon as possible, please. Thanks.

Thanks for the help, Jenny. I really appreciate it. As for your suggestions now: yes, mine is a USB keyboard. I did turn off all the anti-virus components when I installed the game. In fact, for this particular game, I turned off the wifi altogether! I even play this game with wifi off, but not the antivirus. I have Nortons. I am not sure how to locate the the game's exe file, and then to add it to the Norton's exceptions... I should also tell you that when I installed the game, it wanted to install the DirectX 9c at the end, but the installation failed. I got some message that some file wouldn't install. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the same thing happened again. Currently, I have DirectX 11; but I "allow" these older games to go ahead and install their 9c, which they apparently do because they go through the whole process and then tell me it's done. As I mentioned though, this game failed to go through with that process. Could that failure be a cause of my keyboard problem somehow? Once again, I really appreciate your prompt response. Please, help me figure it out. Thanks.

Maybe this would help you figure out how to add exceptions to Norton https://community.norton.com/en/forums/how-add-folder-exceptionsThe game's exe file would be in the game folder. If you don't have viewing of file extensions enabled, you won't see the ".exe" on the end, but you can right-click the file and choose "Properties" to get the complete name. Does the installation succeed if you don't try to install DirectX? Have you tried to download and install DirectX 9.0c from the Internet? I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the same thing happened again. Currently, I have DirectX 11; but I "allow" these older games to go ahead and install their 9c, which they apparently do because they go through the whole process and then tell me it's done. As I mentioned though, this game failed to go through with that process. Could that failure be a cause of my keyboard problem somehow? I think it would depend on what file or files failed to install. If you can get the exact name of the file that won't install, maybe we can look it up. If you haven't tried it yet, try running the installer by right-clicking the game's Setup file and choosing to "Run As Administrator."

Thanks so much again. I really DO appreciate all your help. I should tell you though, as I was waiting for your response, I installed the game on my old XP desktop, and guess what? Everything runs fine. I prefer to play on my laptop Win 7, of course, have gotten so used to it. But maybe the game is too old for it? Other games I have recently played (Next Life, Everlight, Outcry, etc.) did fine, but maybe this one is just a bit older, perhaps more complicated, for Win 7. What do you think?

It's not the age of the game so much as how well it was coded. If you check the Gameboomers ***Windows 7 and Games*** thread you'll see games a lot older than Belief and Betrayal worked in Windows 7. Belief and Betrayal is from 2007-2008. But there are games like Dark Fall: The Journal (from 2002) and even Diablo (from 1996) that worked on Windows 7. So if Belief and Betrayal works on your XP computer, then it's certainly easier to play it on that computer than try to figure out why it isn't working in Windows 7.
