Have just begun it and have come across a message that says the game wants to go on to the Internet, I've blocked it, but is it the right thing to do and how do I change things so it can communicate with the Internet if necessary?

Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry,

Are you playing a download version of the game? Did you just enter the serial code -- perhaps it is wanting to connect to the internet to verify the code?

I'll move this topic to Glitches, as it is a tech query rather than hints based.

It sounds like Rushes says -- that you bought a download version of the game and installed it and now it needs to access the Internet to authenticate. It will only need to do that once and then you can play the game without an Internet connection.

Thanks, but, no, it isn't a download version, I have the disk!

You won't be able to activate Starforce without allowing it to connect to the internet. If you're running Vista or above, the version of Starforce that shipped with the game is incompatible - you'll need to search for a NoCD patch in order to play the game.

This is Black Mirror III, Inland, does that still apply?

Ah, the elusive "3" - sorry folks, I completely missed it blush The version of Starforce for The Black Mirror III is compatible - but it still needs to connect to the internet as I recall.

Are you saying the disc version of the game uses online authentication?
This is the version published by Viva Media, right?
I don't know what copy "protection" that uses.

According to my normal source for that type of information, it uses either Starforce or ProtectDisc.

If I'm not mistaken, Starforce still calls home.

Hi,
I bought BM3 from Dave Interact and I did not encounter any Starforce Issues, I simply installed the game and played it (actually I haven't played it yet, just tested it, I have other games to play first).

PS: I have Win7 32 bit.

Hope this helps.
Ray

Were you connected to the Internet when you started it? If so, and no outbound firewall was blocking it, the activation process may have been invisible.

Hi Jenny100,
Not being sure that I was connected to the Internet or not, I installed the Game on my Wife’s Laptop and I made absolutely sure that I was Not connected to the Internet, the game installed withought a glitch and I was able to play the game for 15 Minutes with no problems.
This is not to say that maybe when I start playing the game full time and maybe when I get past, say Chapter I, that the Starforce request code could kick in.
I might make myself a note that whenever I play this game to make sure I am disconnected from the Net to see how far I can go.

Note: My Wife’s laptop is also Win7 32 bit

I have the BM2/BM3 collection DVD that I bought from Dave. The BM3 on that disk doesn't have any copy protection on it. The disk doesn't even have to be in the drive. The BM2 does have protection, I think it's ProtectDisk, but there's a No CD hack available so you can play it too without having to put the disk in the drive.

wave Corana, just to let you and everyone else know I also just installed and started to play Black mirror 3, encountered same query firewall wanted to know if I wanted Black Mirror to connect to Internet. I said no and did start to play it. I also didn't like the way they asked questions like in my start up, hook allowed, can't remember all of the questions, I got frustrated and answered yes to all except connection to Internet.

I purchased the game by buying hard copy not a digital download. Why is all this necessary? Really freaking me out. Now I have stuff installed on my computer and don't have a clue why it is placed there. Any comments to relieve my fears would be appreciated. All this just to play a game, and it took a long time to install the game, and I have top of the line computer and normally extremely fast.

I have a problem with Black Mirror 3 my cursor is stuck at left side inside game screen but when I try to move it the arrow will not move.

Never had this problem before. I have
Nvidia geforce 9400 M video card
anyone have idea how to fix cursor problem for game. I am using highest graphic setting.
