I'm just curious if anyone else has ever played this one?

From searching the forum I know the next game in the series is well liked and a good one and from my own experience the previous game is good as well.

This one, well it's the first one I believe that was released on both consoles and the PC.

The controls are fairly clunky (console like) and the game has shifted to a more arcade feel.

It tries to be a co-op game, but only allows you to do so if you have people right in the room with you, which as everyone knows is impractical for a computer game.

The AI if you don't have someone else to play with is pretty bad. They won't do what you need them to do a lot of the time.

I'm pretty much stuck on the first challenge because I can't beat the time limit to get a medal of any kind. You need to stun and then levitate the enemy (all of which I can do on my own) and then another person needs to blast them while in the air.

The problem being the AI will just blast away when I stun the enemies killing them, or if I get them in the air be busy doing their own thing until I get attacked and lose control.

Anyone else make it through this one alone?

Templeton, I haven't played it, but we have members who like this series, so I'm sure we have someone who has played it.

luck

Is there a way to set the AI to manual ? Then you can control the other person. I don't know if this makes sense or not.

That does make sense, but unfortunately there isn't such an option. If there was it wouldn't really work I'd imagine though, as the game often requires teamwork that takes place in real time.

They just needed to program the AI better.

The other night I encountered a situation with three enemies attacking me at once. The AI sat there and did nothing while I got killed.

The only way to attack the enemy is to grab hold off them one at a time with a spell, hold them in place while the another player finishes them off with another spell.

I have to do the grabbing because the AI characters won't 9 times out of 10. So I'm standing there holding the one enemy while the other two attack me and the AI does nothing.

My two favourite AI failures have to be the following.

The first is when you equip a stamina regeneration (friendship) card on two characters, where both characters will slowly regenerate health when they stand next to each other.

This is great, except for the fact the AI will run away if you try and stand next to them. So basically you have to chase them in circles to regenerate because they won't hold still.

The second is that they simply have poor collision detection. If there's a nice wide path they'll walk right into an enemy plant (one that can't be removed from that spot)occupying a small space on the path and just keep trying to walk through it.

I'm making my way through the game, but it's going a bit slower than I'd like and it's painful at times.

If I wasn't a person that just had to complete things, I'd probably just give it up already.

At least there are a few levels where you just play as Harry. Which makes me really wonder why they relied so heavily on co-op for the other levels.

Thank you smile

Every once in a while I like to lift up a giant stone and crush one of the AI with it, even if it's counter productive to my goals.

I just have to say I finished the game. It's not very long, but it is very terrible.

Now let's never speak of it again.

lol Thanks Templeton......Do you think a better AI would have made the game more fun, or would it still be terrible?

I think even with a better AI it still would have been a fairly poor game. It would have been better to play through though.

Clunky controls, poor collision detection (getting hit by enemies that aren't even touching you), poor camera angles and a focus on co-op that makes no sense all hold it back.

What you do in the levels that are co-op doesn't carry over to the single player portion of the game and it makes you wonder what is the point of collecting power-ups. You simply can't use them in the single player portion of the game.

The story is also very poorly told.

I know companies are notorious for rushing out movie-tie in games to capitalize on the popularity of something and this game is definitely in that category.

Movie tie-ins do seem to often be the kiss of death. wave
