Anyone playing this game? How are you liking it? There have been some complaints from people about the controls but I don't mind them, but so far the game is lots of fun and not so different from 1 and 2.

Wincey, glad you are liking it.

I'm sure we have members who are playing it, but it may take a bit til they see it. wave

What is your favorite thing about the game?

I've been wondering about the controls for this game. I played the 1st.+2nd Dungeon Seiges. They were basically point and click games. Which I loved.
But I have't bought Dungeon Seige 3 because they have it now for the other systems. So I was wondering if I should just buy it for the Xbox 360 or is it still a point + click on the PC version? I'm so confused ??? maryjo

Oh, lots of things. I like the battles, equipping my characters with cool items, the nice scenery. The conversations are quite funny at times with interesting NPCs.

Well you use the keyboard to move around, and you have to click to swing your sword each time and use the keyboard for special moves. But you can also hold the mouse to move around. It's awkward at first but you get used to the controls.

There's a patch coming out next week, if it it is not already which makes it easier to remap your key-bindings for this game.

Here's link to the Obsidian blog:

http://blog.obsidian.net/2011/06/30/dungeon-siege-iii-patch-keybinding-and-move-leftright/

Here's a quote:

Quote:
Move Left and Right: In addition, we’ve added two new controls that will allow you to move left or right (think strafing.) For example, if you’d rather have A and D on your keyboard move your character left and right respectively instead of rotate the camera, you’ll now be able to set that as well.

Reviews for this game have been all the place, ranging from , I think 3 or 4/10 to 8.5/10 or higher even. Most of them seem to land in the range between 6-8 or there-abouts.

Luckily, there's a demo out for DS3 you can try if you're in doubt if the pc version is for you.

Wincey, I always like to watch my characters grow in strength and abilities.

Thanks Karsten, I'm sure that will be a welcome change.

I started DS3 this week. Getting used to the controls now and really enjoying the game. The patch sounds more like what I am used too though.

I installed the demo and had to update my Nvidia GeForce card before I could get it to play. The good news is that I now have an up to date driver for my graphics card.

I'm not too sure about the game. I read that you can control up to 8 party members which is a little much for me. I'm used to 3 and 4 or being a lone wolf as in Morrowind and Witcher.

The controls leave something to be desired for me. Clicking the mouse on a spot and moving to it takes a little getting used to.

Guess I'll continue with the demo and see what I think.

8 party members? I'm almost completed the game and so far it's just me and my henchman.

I wish I WAS allowed one or two more in my party, it might be a little more interesting. Although it probably would be total chaos with multiple spells filling the whole screen.

Oldman, is there not an option to change how you walk?

if there is I haven't found it. I went into options and there is nothing to allow you to change any movement keys.

chances are that I misread the info about the companions. It is more likely that there are a total of 8 available in the game from which you can choose 3 or 4 but I often tend to misread stuff.

I found a good price on one of the Amazon sites and went ahead and ordered the game for $29.95. Perhaps the patch that was mentioned earlier will allow you to map the keys. I hope anyway.

Yes, the patch will allow you to change keybindings. Another quote from Obsidian's blog:

Quote:
Keybinding: Don’t like some or all of the default key controls in DS3? Fear not! With the new keybinding tab in the Options menu, you’ll be able to remap the controls to however you prefer them. Each control option has two bindable keys, so if you like having one function controlled by two different keys, that is available as well. (As an example, some people might like having both W and Up Arrow as options to move forward.)

Hopefully, the patch will be on its way soon smile

I played the Demo, it stopped suddenly in the cave. Is this the end of the Demo or it was a bug?

In the Demo when one is killed comes back with full health in the same place, is it the same in the full game?

I read it was interesting at first but it becomes boring after a while, Wincey, since you almost finished it, do you agree with this comment?

I'll probably buy a pre-owed PS3 when the price drops a little and trade it in after playing it because the game seems O.K. but no outstanding

I also played the demo, and yes, it suddenly stopped in the cave...and I took it as sign of this is the end of the demo. Sadly, for me, I didn't like the demo of DS3 much. I have enjoyed Obsidian's other games; that's why I tried the DS3 demo.

I don't plan to buy the PC version for this reason, not bad but certainly no a great game, it is not a game I want to keep, like the Witchers. I'll buy it only if there is a good deal for PS3, then I play it and trade it in with very little money lost.

Well I've played this game now for a few days and, after getting used to the controls, am really enjoying it.

One option that I really like is the quest trail. You press the "r" key and it shows you where to go to your highlighted quest. Makes up for the fact that there is no world map.
