I was playing the game and instead of pressing ESC to end the game I pressed Sleep

When I went back to the game, I got 2 screens. One overlays the other

The back screen is full screen with the clouds in the sky (no problem with the look of the picture)

The front screen is to left of the monitor. It looks like a windowed screen and has the Game play in it.

I tried to get into the Properties of the game (click on Scratches Icon and go to Properties) but am in a state of confusion. I never touched this Properties before and tried to change a few settings. Still 2 screens. 1 full and 1 windowed.

This particular PC is Vista
Enough Hard drive, RAM and Speed

I did try to uninstall/reinstall... same problem

I think that Vista, like Win 7, is set up to deal with two monitors, thus two screens. If so, you might want to try what worked for me with another problem. Go read the thread one or two before yours, butterflybabe's Firefox Problem, and try the fix that worked for me. You can always change the Multiple Settings back to what it was before if it doesn't.

Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Display>Screen Resolution. Out by Multiple Displays, select "show desktop only on 1". Hit Apply and OK.

I found Screen Resolution but nothing that says Out by multiple displays

I opened the game.

the welcome screen comes on.
It's still weird (Overlapping )but I opened the game and had a full screen for the game BUT NOW I can't grab any of the tools (inventory) necessary to play the game. I can't even read the journal.

Sorry, blsbet, that was my wording confusing you. I meant that 'beside' Multiple Displays you have a dropdown menu that allows you to choose "show desktop only on 1". At least, you do if Vista and Win 7 offer you the same choices.

Well...the blind leading the blind...what about uninstalling and reinstalling the game in case something weird happened to it when you pressed Sleep?

It sounds to me almost like you have two instances of the game running and conflicting with each other. If you've already tried rebooting, and get the same problem, maybe uninstalling and reinstalling would help. I'm not sure if your saved games would be affected, but you might want to back them up before uninstalling.

It's really strange. I mean I can "play" the game but my inventory is lower than it should be by about 2 inches

I can "get" to the inventory by reaching where the inventory SHOULD be and when I want a close up of an object, It's on the left side of the screen

Is there someone with the game in still their PC that can look at the properties of their game. See what they have for a set up? MAYBE that might help?

Do you have a widescreen monitor?
There is nothing in the game controls that would cause the problem you're describing -- or fix it. Either there's a game file that's damaged or something in the registry relating to the game that's damaged.

Back up any saves
Uninstall the game
Run Ccleaner and have it scan the registry for errors
Reinstall the game and see if it runs correctly.
If it does, try restoring your saves.

I will do that AND do a system restore

Still not running correctly

Will have to load it onto the "Community PC" (ie everyone at home uses this PC) until I can figure out how to "reset" the Property settings

Was able to install in another PC but the camera panning is really slow. Any suggestions?
