Hi all, I am hoping that someone can send me a functioning exe file for this game. I have had no help from the Adventure Co or the developer and have been struggling with this for 6 months now. I am really loath to ask this but in the absence of any help from the above mentioned co's, someone out there must have a exe file that will launch that they can send me as a patch. Quite seriously I have tried everything all the blogs etc have suggested and still no go. The problem is when trying to launch, the game just goes clunk and we get "exe has encountered a problem and has to close". I really hope someone can help. cheers, Alfoil.

The game has fairly low system requirements, but we've got to start somewhere - what are your system specs?

You can locate most of the information from DXDiag (Click Start, Run (or press the Windows Logo Key+R) enter DXDiag and press OK.

Post the information located on the General, Display and Sound tabs.

Hi Alfoil smile

Thank you for your long post, very informative.

I think your problems my be due to this:

Quote:
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 6100 nForce 405
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03D1&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_A2
Display Memory: 256.0 MB

Even if this card have 256 MB,I'm not sure BM2 or BM 3 will play this game:

This is, I think, due to this:

Quote:
The term GeForce 6100/6150 actually refers to an nForce4-based motherboard with an integrated NV44 core, as opposed to a standalone graphics card.

Taken from this:

Quote:
In late 2005 Nvidia introduced a new member to the GeForce family, the 6100 series, also known as C51. The term GeForce 6100/6150 actually refers to an nForce4-based motherboard with an integrated NV44 core, as opposed to a standalone graphics card. Nvidia released this product both to follow up its immensely popular GeForce4 MX based nForce and nForce2 boards and to compete with ATI's RS480/482 and Intel's GMA 900/950 in the integrated graphics space. The 6100 series is very competitive, usually tying with or just edging out the ATI products in most benchmarks.

If it's not the above, it could be a) you'll need to update your directx, b) need to your update your drivers c) need to update your sound card drivers, or d) need to update the RAM in your computer. I have this game, and while 256 MB RAM is recommended, for Windows XP, they recommend 512 MB and for Vista and Windows 7 (I'd guess?),they recommend 1GB of RAM.

As you have 3008MB(=3GB) of RAM, this shouldn't be a problem.

The good news is that this model can be upgraded:
Info found here:
http://www.gigabyte.lv/products/page/mb/ga-m61sme-s2_2x/

As you can see if you look at where it says 'expansion slots', you have, or rather the computer has:

Quote:

1.1 x PCI Express x16
2.1 x PCI Express x1
3.2 x PCI

This means that you can get a better videocard, if you can afford one, of course. I'm not that tech savy so maybe some others will advice on which card is the best for you.

If you decide to upgrade, then please tell us if you mainly adventure games.

/Karsten

In order to upgrade your graphics card, You'll have to know the wattage of your power supply. It's generally stamped on the side of ther unit.

If it's 400 watts or more you should have no problems finding an ad-on card.

I am replying to both of the posts. I have my doubts as to whether I need another graphics card as every game I play has been perfect, including the Black Mirror series, Perry Rhodan, Syberia and numerous BigFish games. (plus other adventure shop games). Its just this one particular game. I have no problem downloading and installing , the problem is the launching which comes up with the message (exe has a problem and has to close). I downloaded this game onto my husbands computer and got the same message. Thank you both so much for your help with this problem but have to say I have decided to banish the game to the recycle bin and wave it goodbye. cheers, Alfoil

If the card plays your current collection of games, there's no need to upgrade. Its biggest drawback however is the lack of discrete memory.

Did you contact the distributor you downloaded the game from?

All the games you mention are older or have very low system requirements. If you have downloaded to your husband's computer and like you has low quality integrated graphics, the same message may show up. But there are always a few game out there that just don't work on some systems.

It seems that this game has caused a lot of issues for others too.

Yes i did contact them and they shunted me to Lighthouse Interactive who apparently went belly up a while ago, so no joy there.

Thanks again for your assistance.
