My wife and I use our laptop for watching movies, playing adventure games and web browsing. The HP we have is on the third hard-drive (luckily they were replaced under warranty). The fan is pretty noisy when running certain games, and even while watching DVD movies. Do all laptops have this issue? We're thinking of getting another laptop before this one dies. Can anyone recommend a brand that stays quiet without excessive heating?

Also, what features should be included for adventure gaming? I'll try to get maximum graphics memory. We like the wide, non-glare scrren for watching movies. Is 32 or 64 bit Windows better? i5 processor? i7? There are quite a few choices and tradeoffs...any advice would be appreciated.

Erggo....

I have been very happy with my Asus G73JH laptop which I've had for over a year now. I also have an HP Pavilion laptop that had to have a number of things replaced (under extended warranty) and I decided to upgrade. It is absolutely terrific for adventure games, which was my main purpose for buying it.

Very quiet. Does not run hot (like the HP can). Asus probably has a newer model unit available now. I got this one a year ago at Best Buy.

So...as you search for your next laptop, I would add ASUS to your list.

Critical question to answer is, what is your budget?

Darclvr, I'm hoping to spend less than $1500, including extended warranty.
JKEerie, I'm impressed with the design of the ASUS computer, with the heat coming out behind the display and the fan blowing outward...seems like a great idea. I'll definitely see if they have anything in my price range.

For that price range, you should be able to get a fully loaded gaming laptop!

Jenny100 has recommended referring to notebookreview.com for information and advice on laptops and I've used it several times. This page has their reviews for some multi media laptops. The one thing I would recommend is to get the best dedicated graphics card you can. I like the Dell XPS 15 on this page.

This Asus at Newegg has a Blu-Ray player and a higher screen resolution for watching movies. A cooling pad would be helpful for any laptop.

Asus N53

Jenny or Inland can answer your questions about the processor better than I can. But the 64-bit OS will be able to make use of more RAM, whereas the 32-bit is limited to a bit less than 4 GB of RAM.
