I hope I am in the right form. I bought from Amazon, The Secrets of Da Vinci, The Forbidden Manuscript. The game will load but when i click on the short cut a box comes up asking can this program make changes to your computer
SDV.exe I then click yes and nothing happens. I then left click the shortcut and click test compatibility and it states to start program. So I click, Start program and the same box comes up (SDV.exe) I click allow and nothing happens again. Can you help me ? If I am in the wrong forum I am sorry not to go at this.

It sounds like you have either Vista or Windows 7 with User Account Control (UAC) enabled.

How long did you wait before deciding nothing was happening? Sometimes games can take up to a minute to start.

You could try turning off UAC, which has been known to cause problems with games even when you click "yes" in the box. Here's a website that tells several ways to turn off UAC in Vista
http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm
I suggest using Method #4.

Here's how to turn off UAC in Windows 7
http://www.petri.co.il/disable-uac-in-windows-7.htm

You might also want to try playing the game in compatibility mode. Right-click the game shortcut, select Properties, then the Compatibility tab. Choose XP from the dropdown box. You may also want to tick the boxes for disabling visual themes and advanced text services if you see those listed on the compatibility tab. Save the new settings and OK out of it. Then try the game.

Other possibilities are:

1. A conflict with your antivirus. If you have an antivirus running real time scanning, it will scan everything the game tries to do to start up and block anything it thinks is "suspicious." You may want to try temporarily disabling your antivirus before starting the game to see if it makes a difference. Disconnect from the Internet before turning off your antivirus if you don't have a router or hardware firewall built into your modem. (often DSL modems have built-in firewalls).

2. A problem with the game's copy "protection." The game uses TAGES copy "protection," and most computers don't have a problem with it. If you've ruled out other problems, you may need need to download a NoCD to get the game to start. Google
Secrets of Da Vinci NoCD
to find where to download a NoCD

If 2wicked has Windows 7, then a Tages upgrade is needed. It can be found ***here.**

Thanks for the help, Draclvr.
It's good to have a Windows 7 expert around.
I've used Windows 7, but not for gaming.
