This morning while connected to the internet the blue screen came up (for second time in 2 weeks) with "windows has encountered a problem and will shut down". Also the option of restarting my computer. Went on to show a lot of technical stuff regarding bios but at the bottom it showed "dumping physical memory". Have no idea whats going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Running Win XP.

I guess you could try running chkdsk /r to check your hard drive.

It sounds like you're looking at a Blue Screen (snap dump) after it encounters the error. If so, just jot down the first two lines and post it in a reply.

The format will be: Stop:error code (Parm 1, Parm 2, Parm 3, Parm 4) followed on the second line by a string of text.

If you don't wish to wait for it to happen again, you can use Blue Screen View.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

It will look at the mini dump files created during the BSOD and provide you with all the error information you need to post it here.

Sorry I'm late getting back. Did the checkdisk and updated windows, so will wait and see if it happens again.

Templeton, I bookmarked your link.

Thanks for the responses.
