Oldman, I started out using magic and bows, but found a great 2 handed axe, and have loved using it.

There is indeed fast travel once you have discovered a destination.

I do use my Flame spell, but it seems to damage me as well. sad

I'm having fun making potions. happydance

Yankee, I hope yours gets there soon. WooHooo for the rain! We need it, but not nearly as much as you all do.

By the way, if anyone else is trying to find the quicksave/quickload options, they are F5 and F9 respectively. I just found them this morning as I didn't see them mentioned in the manual (but I could have missed them.)

I am getting more comfortable with the interface. I changed the keys this morning to match my WoW interface (Don't tell son...he told me to leave it alone) and son also cleared up some of my confusion by telling that R and L do Not stand for Right click and Left click as I thought. They stand for Right Hand and Left Hand, and Left click uses Right Hand. Who knew? rotfl

Hi again. I just was reading everyone's posts and wanted to jump in and say that I'm an Imperial warrior and this has got to be the most satisfying combat I've ever experienced in a game. My girl is kicking much butt, and I am loving it! LOL LOL

PS I'm eager to buy a house and have the go-ahead now from the Jarl, but need to get more money so I thought that I would sell stuff. But, the guy that has a shop doesn't "buy", so I've just been finding and looting weapons and selling them to the guy at the armor shop. Does anyone else know of a way to make more money quickly or of other people who will buy things like books and other miscellaneous goodies?

Thanks for your help and btw, I'm happy you guys are enjoying the game too!

Tracy smile

I have a question about perks. I have two perks but when I try to find out how to select any it get's confusing and the perks seem to wander around the screen and I can't find any or figure out how to select them if and when I find them. The manual doesn't really explain anything at all.

My character's a nord. It's been going pretty well so far. I'm really loving the game for the most part. Yesterday, my horse got killed by a giant. I was so mad so I just went back and reloaded my last save. Wasn't about to let that happen.

It's really good to see all the varied animal life around. The chickens and yak on the farms, and the foxes, goats, rabbits out in the wild. Still no house cats though. I don't get that. I can't cuddle the sabretooth cats. They just aren't into it.

Tracy, there's a store in Riften called The Pawned Prawn. He pretty much buys everything. And I know the stewards in Riften and Whiterun will give you information on bounties for various group of thieves if you ask them about work. The bounty so far for me has been 100 every time I go back to collect.

Tracy, it is fun to whomp up on the bad guys isn't it? My cat has a big ole 2 handed axe with frost on it and it makes short work of most....though I'm not eager to try it out on the giants as both sons have said to stay away.

Eldest son got his house by hunting and crafting leather armor....and questing. He said questing is the best way. I know certain vendors only buy certain things.

Oldman, that perks screen is pretty but can be confusing. Each of those star clusters is a different kind of perk. So if you wanted to do a Smith perk, for example, you'd click over to the anvil star cluster. You'd see the first perk you could get and then the other stars that form the cluster represent the perks further up the tree.

You just click down low on the screen to go backwards. You can save perks for later. For instance, I can't put anymore points into Bows until I reach 40 skill with them, so I'm just holding on to them. I was really lost too...then just spent a little time clicking around til I 'got' it.

I haven't made it to Riften yet but will look for the one in Whiterun.

Mad, I wasn't sure if mine would play the game, but bought it anyway to see. puppy

Traveler, you couldn't possibly be any worse than I am....I can't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. wave

Thank you Looney4labs I finally got it. I was clicking on the font rather than the blue thingy underneath the font. Once I clicked on the correct place then the game asked me if I wanted to use that perk and all was well.

It's heeeeerrre!!!! I was booging along my driveway headed for Elgin to buy some Thanksgiving clothes and there by the road andthere andthere it was. Actually they were because they sent Rayman with it. Wow 2 games.

The guide came yesterday - Skyrim is a monster game. I really don't understand the guide at all - it's so big and small print. Oh well will just have to get used to it.

Happy Wednesday and happy gaming all

If anyone is wanting help or further information on the game there is a very helpful site at uesp.net

I picked up all kinds of tips here.

Just ordered a new laptop. It should be here within a couple of weeks. It will be the longest wait. Reading your posts made me finally realize I can't play anything new until then. Seems to me I need a new computer for each new Elder Scrolls game.

Looney--oh yes, it is SO much fun to whack creatures and bad guys! I was telling my hubby on the phone today about how much I loved the combat in this game and he just laughed and was like, "Look at you! I never knew you were so bloodthirsty!" LOL!!!

btw---so happy you got yours Yankee---that's great! And yes, that strategy guide is a MONSTER. It's huge and I have to put on my glasses to read it but I'm glad to have it just in case. smile

Tracy, off to Skyrim again

Argh, why did they have to release this so close to T'day?

I've been cleaning like mad. The den is not spotless but it is much nicer and ditto for the bedroom, but I'd have much rather been playing.

I made it to the

today. happydance

Thanks Oldman...that is a great site!

Rowan, wooohooo...a new Elder Scrolls and a new computer.

Yankee, so glad you got yours. I didn't get a strategy guide. I'd be too tempted to cheat.

Tracy, have fun! wave

I can't believe this! They want me to get a job! What do they think being an adventurer is, a leisure activity? Tan my own hides, smelt my own ore, craft my own weapons? Listen, when I come in from the field after a hard week of slash and hack, all I want is a good meal, a lot of mead, maybe some you know wink wink, and a warm comfy bed. No way am I getting a job.

AnneG,
You mentioned
Quote:
I actually have one of those Xbox controllers for Windows
are you using it with W7? I have one PC controller that used to work well with the XP but not with W7, despite all the new drivers I got still doesn't work as it should be. I am considering buying the Xbox for PC.

Did you have to map each button or it works strait away?

Hey, mcc. smile

I am using Windows 7 and I haven't had to do anything with it after installing the software and plugging in the little usb wireless thingie. You turn it on after starting the game and it's ready to go.

Hey Mad I was just thinking this morning about which game I would compare it to. The leveling up is not like anything at all but, in my opinion, the overall feel of the game, reminds me more of an improved Morrowind than Oblivian. Others may disagree but that is my impression.

I am now pausing from the main quest and doing the thieves quests because I read where, upon completion, you get some real cool armor and sword called Nightingale. Have done about 3 of the quests so far and can't wait to see what the armor and sword are like.

Annie, that's funny - I know - I don't want to work, what do I want to work for?

L4L that cat is beautiful, she's lovely. After I saw her I didn't know to be either a Khajiit or Nord or Imperial. Ended up a real strong handsom protective Nord. Might play this game 3rd person hahaha

Now should I go Dark Brotherhood or Imperial legion? I want to level up more befor continuing with the main quest.

Happy gaming all

Thanks, Yankee! I'm retired, I will work no more forever.

Mad: I haven't played Morrowind, but I can say Skyrim is very different from Oblivion. It is a much grimmer, darker game, with very little humor. I doubt we will be seeing anything like the Adoring Fan. But it's a wonderful game so far! I've been exploring the edges of the map, there's just so much to see.
