Arrgghh! Has anyone else gotten the message from Steam "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." I have rebooted to no avail. I am not happy!

Any idea how to get rid of the arrow stuck in her?
Try changing armor or clothing. I know a lot of times my character will have blood on her arms forever then I change outfits and it goes away.

As far as I know, you can play the game in offline mode? in the Steam client. Steam will still have to be running, though (for some odd reason?) Also, there's a certain trick to getting rid of the message AnneG is receiving, but I can't remember it right now. I'll dig around. As promised here is the link to mod that lets you change spiders into bears. http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/elderscrollsvskyrim/mod/40950.htmlYou'll have to scroll down a bit, and click the download now button. Please remember to click the picture of the bears so you'll get to see how they look like. - they look like they're really easy to hit

Annie, I haven't gotten that one, though I did have to go through a resync yesterday to play. I also got a message this morning that my game was not synced and if I'd played on another computer, my progress would be lost. I had not played on any other computer, so I went ahead and my game was fine. I haven't tried since then though. Did you eventually get on? Thanks AnneG, I'll try that. I did try unequipping and equipping but did not try switching items. I'll give that a go when I can load up next. Thanks Karsten, how do you keep up with all this?

Arrgghh! Has anyone else gotten the message from Steam "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." I have rebooted to no avail. I am not happy! That has happened to me several times. I just double click on the DVD in the drive and the main menu opens up. I then click on reinstall and it does just that. Then I'm able to restart the game and I don't lose anything but I do have to reset any options I have done. In my case it's just the mouse movement that I set everytime. Hope that works for you.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not up and running. Playing offline didn't seem to work. I googled the error message and looked at solutions, none of which worked, or seemed applicable. So I deleted the game and downloaded it again. Now Steam seems to be downloading it a second time.
Oldman, I'm not sure what you mean by double clicking on the dvd. I seem to be a little dim today!
edit: Okay, I got it! Thank you, Oldman, once again. I took your advice and reinstalled from the disc, and I'm back in the game. Now for some of that cold nothern air to clean away all my crabbiness.

Karsten you are an angel! I'd LOVE to be able to play this wonderful game all the way through without having to watch nervously for spiders everytime I'm out in the open. Thank you! PS Man, modders move fast--the game just came out and already they're making mods! Tracy

I think I downloaded a mod the first day, Tracy. One that changed the colors of the horses. I'm riding around on a dun horse now. I'm dying for them to release the Creation Kit to make mods. I want to make houses. I've got the perfect spot for the first one.

BoohooBoohoo, I might have to start over because I deleted some corrupted data (PS3) and of course I didn't know what I was doing but it is very bad to do what I did.
On the bright side - What I learned I will apply this time around and always thought I will play this game the rest of my life. But I was almost a 21. Be very careful when the game is saving. Don't mess with it.
I will be a werewolf again, that's for sure.
That house in Whiterun - you don't get much for 5000 ducats do you.

Yankee, I'm so sorry! I did have to laugh though. I read your message as "I will play this game the rest of my life. But I'm almost 21" and I thought, that's going to be one long game.
AnneG, I've never done a mod. Do you have to be extremely computer literate?

Not really, Annie. Some of them can be pretty complex to install, but most of them are very easy. It's usually just dragging and dropping the files into the right place of Skyrim's install folder on your computer.

That sounds cool AnneG! And btw, I hadn't heard of the creation kit but have always wanted to make mods and never tried to---maybe it'll be easier with this program. Karsten--thank you SO much for that link. I've downloaded it btw, but am not sure how to install it because unlike Morrowind and Oblivion, Skyrim seems to be "in" Steam. Would you happen to know how to get in there and install a mod? I appreciate all of your help you guys--thanks! Tracy

Annie How you flatter me - I meant I'm almost level 21. Really I'm veryvery olde. Much too old to be playing these games especially combat shooters are my favorite(Killzone2, Battlefield series and resistance) Yes as much as Elder Scrolls. Also aerial shooters.
Just returned from son's and DIL's and 1/2 of family and they gave me plenty of tips about corrupted data AND just noticed the corruption occured on the 15th and I didn't get Skyrim until the 16th. So it has to be Deadspace 2. Back in business.
The game is a bit biggy isn't it. But it is a classic.
Anyway everyone be careful when the game is saving.

Good evening folks, The Skyrim experience has definitely been fun. The only things I'd like to see in the next patch are some house cleaning in the Character Interface and it would be really nice if they gave us a single-page character skill and attribute summary. I like the constellation thing and all, but seeing it all in one shot would simplify keeping mental track of multiple character builds...Must be the D&D'er in me Read Ya Later, TM

L4L - on the 23rd you posted they say you look tired, you didn't tangle with some vampires did you? If so quickly drink some heal disease potion. In your active effects screen if there's sanguinare vampirus(or close to that) get to a healer or drink the potion. It might be challenging to play Sky. as a vampire(???) They told me that same thing and I slept for a day - maybe she's just tired.
Still have the same character , Nord warrior - Oh where were men like these when I was looking for a husband.
Anyway started all over last night and played till I fell asleep at the consol and am enjoying it more this time around.

Trail, did you finish the game? Will you replay? Thanks AnneG Tracy, have fun with those bears. If you change the spiders to bears, can you then make the bears leave you alone with the animal shout? Yankee, I did check for that but thank you for the suggestion. What I had not been doing was letting her sleep in a bed. I didn't realize there was any reason to. What is your warrior's name?

Brutus!!!!!!!
My son is a wood elf and it's amazing what he can do - sneeking and bow and arrow with alchemy. He got a bit hirt when I told him I kiled a woodelf. This game has limitless possibilities.
If you become a werewolf you don't get the benefits of sleep but you don't get diseases either.

Yankee--your poor son! LOL! Fun though that you guys are sort of playing it together--makes me wish I had a youngin' of my own. Karsten---You are a jewel! Got the mod downloaded and installed and just when I saw a bunch of cobwebs in a cave and KNEW there was a spider, there stood a huge bear instead. Whew! I can't tell you what a relief that is. Spiders scare me so bad I sweat, shake, have palpitations, feel like being sick, etc. NOT fun---but you saved me and now I can relax a bit more while I play--thank you! btw--this is to anyone who's doing the Dark Brotherhood quests. I'm the Listener and doing quests that I get from the Night Mother. I'm in Winterhold right now getting ready to do the kill, but the man who is the target is wandering around in a public place and there seems to be no no way to get home alone so I can do the deed. I tried a bow and arrow, but that got everyone's attention and I had to reload an earlier save because they were all ganging up on me (lol), and then I tried spells but the same thing happened. Just wondering if anyone has done this or is doing it and can give me a good way to do this killing? Thanks so much! Tracy

Tracy, I haven't done that quest yet. I'd been having issues since the patch, but I think hubby just fixed the last of them. Course, I still have the boys and hubby home, so no playing for me just yet. So glad the spider problem has been fixed.

Tracy on the Dark Brotherhood some quests you just can't do without getting caught as far as I know. What I did was to run and the guards will eventually give up. The next town you go to will not have a bounty as was the case in Morrowind and Oblivian.
An alternative is to put your weapon away and a guard will tell you to either pay a fine or go to jail.
Now I am giving up on a house in Windhelm. I have done all the quests in the town. Fiished all the Stormcloak quests and the guy tells me that the house is not available. I've read up on it and everyone says you're supposed to complete a "Blood and Ice" quest but I can't even get that quest to start. Maybe it's because I did so many other factions before the Stormcloak.
Oh well, I guess I can live without that house. I am married and have the house in Whiterun but thought I'd move on up to a better house.
From what I've read the windhelm house quest must be bugged some do and some don't get it.
