Thanks Looney and Oldman. I can't tell ya how fun it is to be able to have all of you guys to talk to about gaming stuff---especially Skyrim. I haven't been so addicted to a game since Oblivion and I don't know that I'll ever be able to stop. LOL btw---I was doing some Temple of Mara quests in Riften, and was wearing my Amulet of Mara, forgetting that doing that makes people think you're available for marriage. Well, I also became the Thane of Riften and got a house and when I got home, my housecarl (a female) let me know that she was interested in me! lol I was so amused partly because the fact that Bethesda has gone out of their way to make people of different orientations comfortable is just mind-blowing, and great, but also because I'm straight and although she's very pretty I had to decline. Things are bound to be awkward now between us but I'm sure we'll work around it somehow. What a great game.....sigh..... Tracy, just impressed all around by all facets of this wonderful game! Oh, PS, Anne---I had a giggle whenyou said that Lisbet came to your wedding and you didn't even know you guys were friends. LOL!!! Can't wait to see who I end up marrying and which girls decided to be my makeshift bridesmaids.

I can't find Amren now that I have his family sword. Any idea where I can find him other than his house? He's not in his house. I got this quest at Whiterun I think.
Also any tips on beating a hagraven?
EDIT: It's ok I found him at night time. But how do you tackle a hagraven? The one found at Orphan Rock during 'The Blessing of Nature' quest.
EDIT: OK, so you've combined my thread here. I made a separate one thinking this might have spoilers. But it's OK if this one doesn't or are hidden if it does.

Hugh, to beat that Hargraven I had Lydia attack from one side while I snuck around the other. Then I used a scroll I had and shot here full of arrows.

"Lydia? Do you mean a follower?" Can you bring along a follower on a horse or the horse carriage? Thanks, I'll try this.

Hi again everyone. I just had to post because my character is getting married! LOL I've had about 4 people sort of ask if I was interested, and after wandering around Skyrim and checking out a few guys, I settled on Farkas, this dude that's in the Companions with me. Guess it's time to go to Riften---I wonder if we'll live in my house there or what? If this was RL I wouldn't want to live in the Jorrvaskr! LOL Tracy, feeling silly but a little happy as well---am I weird or what?

Got my new computer. Want to get used to it before I play Skyrim because I want to enjoy it to the fullest. Besides I have to wait until Christmas before I play as my husband said Santa has it for me. I guess the North Pole sort of fits in with the Skyrim climate.

LOL Tracy, feeling silly but a little happy as well---am I weird or what? Hey, you married Farkas, Vilkas' twin brother! Good choice! I never could figure out why as twins, Vilkis has a nordic style accent and Farkas sounds like he's from the midwest. They're good boys though. Did you move into Honeyside? Has Farkas given you one of those homecooked meals yet that looks suspiciously like an apple pie when you view it in your inventory? Oh, and I'm like you. I was pleased to see they gave you the option of marrying either gender. Ione (your housecarl) hasn't been jealous has she?

Congratulations, Tracy! Hope your wedding was better than mine.
I just got married too. I married Balimund the blacksmith in Riften, but I'm not sure this marriage is going to work. First, he shows up in his work clothes, didn't even take his apron off. Then, no sooner had I said my vows, than he turned around and left! He was the first one out the door after the ceremony. So I went to his house and the door was locked (it was only quarter to 6 in the morning). So I picked the lock and got arrested for breaking and entering. Now we are settled in my house. To keep busy he wants to open a shop, but he's going to charge me for anything I want out of his shop. "Can this marriage be saved?"

Oh wow, it sounds as though I'm going to be busy!
I was just about to conclude that the game was running almost perfectly when it froze. Oh well, the original Morrowind was pretty buggy and crashed a lot, and Oblivion was the same. I'm sure I'll get along.
As usual I've just started wandering around sneaksy-wise and am at level 6 with only about 4 quests done. Time to focus! Though wandering is so much fun.
This is going to be good.

Anne G--Yup, I did indeed marry Vilkas' brother. Is he your husband? lol! If so we should live near each other...we could gossip over the back fence about our husbands! Oh, and the good news is, my housecarl in Riften is the one who was interested in me, so we're okay there. That would've been really weird though w/ the three of us in the same house, wouldn't it? LOL! And like you I have had the "apple pie" meal from Farkas....hmmmmmm. These guys need to go to cooking school or at least make little new icons for their special meals. LOL Annie--OMG, yes. I was kind of excited about my wedding but it's been exactly like you described. OMG. I remember when Farkas talked about wanting to open a store I was like, "In MY house?" And then he just sits in a chair and like you said, charges me for stuff! Hello? sigh...Maybe the Temple of Mara will conduct marriage counseling sessions for us....or I bet someday someone will create a mod just for this very thing. You never know! Tracy, realizing she doesn't know her own new last name!

AnneG and Tracy -- would you be interested in forming a wives group? I haven't had a home-cooked meal yet. But then I haven't even had a kiss yet. What happened to "you may now kiss the bride?" I've heard rumors of a marriage patch, I just hope it's not just to make divorce possible. I'm trying to make the marriage work!
On a more serious note, the subject of marriage and children in Skyrim is generating some pretty ugly stuff on the interwebs -- youtube videos depicting domestic violence as a means to divorce, homophobic chats, and worst of all a mod that allows you to kill children. There are some pretty unpleasant people out there.

Annie, that marriage sounds like it needs some counseling. Yes, it's always sad to see the darker side of folks so prominently displayed. Hagatha, I take it you are going the thief route? Tracy, I just . I died and died and died some more but eventually figured out what to do.

Good idea, Annie. We totally need a Skyrim Wives' Support Group. I ran into someone else on another board who'd married Balimund the Riften blacksmith and she was complaining that he'd completely disappeared after the wedding. *lol* They do need to work on this marriage system next time around. I'm sure the modders will work on it too when the Creation Kit comes out. I think when you marry someone who already has a trade, like Balimund, they should stick with what they are doing and not "open a shop", unless you move them out of the city they are in. And for heaven's sake if they are going to open a shop, at least let them spend part of the day outside in the market area with a stall or something. Not pretend to have a shop and sit around all day in your house, munching on sweet rolls. With the mods you were talking about earlier, Annie.. I'm a modder myself and as much as I love the modding community in general, I have run across some strange and unpleasant people on there. I ran across a mod once for Fallout New Vegas that added an SS uniform to the game that you could wear. I was mystified. I was like "Who could possibly want this?" Apparently a lot of people though if the downloads were any indication. Many more people than wanted my player house mods at the time. I had to laugh over it but it also made a little sad at the same time. Edited to say: Oh, I see the first big patch for PC users is getting released tomorrow... http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/2011/11/28/skyrim-1-2-update/

Actually, AnneG, I think he's doing more than just sitting around my house eating sweet rolls. When I came home today, I went out on the back porch and found a table set for two with salmon steaks! Just a few minutes earlier I had asked him to cook me something, and he certainly didn't say anything about salmon dinners on the back porch. Should I worry?
Re SS uniforms, that is both sad and disturbing, but I suppose it isn't surprising there are people like that, otherwise there would never have been SS uniforms.
In the list of fixes in tomorrow's patch I saw this: "•Fixed occasional issue where a guest would arrive to the player’s wedding dead." At least I didn't have that!

I haven't got married and hearing your stories I doubt I will No romantic scenes like in Witcher 2? Apparently I got my "henchwooman" killed , it must have been in Ansilvund and I am not replaying that, very long and tough. Any chance of getting another follower?

Sadly no, MCC, there are definitely no romantic scenes. Not even a discretely blackened screen like in Divine Divinity.

Annie! That's quite shocking. What is that husband of yours playing at? I had an unpleasant surprise while playing today. I'd picked up a dog companion a few days ago and I left him at the house in Markarth to keep Vilkis company and after a few days game time, I get a message that my dog has returned home. Eventually I found him back at the shack where I got him. I don't understand the sense in this. Why don't they just stay where you put them. I am so changing that the first chance I get. And to anyone who's finished the quest The Forsworn Conspiracy in Markarth... Those guards in the shrine of Talos that arrest you and throw you into Cigna Mine never leave! Don't go back into the shrine for any reason because they'll replay the whole scene and arrest you again, even if you've completed the whole quest. Maybe this new patch tomorrow will fix that.
