The following was just posted by a moderator on the Big Fish Games forum:

Quote:
As some of you may have already heard in Mudrock’s weekly post, we are rolling out a new game category. After reviewing the feedback from many of our users asking for other ways to spend their Game Club credits as well as the request for alternatives to purchasing Collector’s Editions or standard version games , we would like to introduce “Deluxe” games.

What does this mean? I am glad you asked! Our Deluxe games will allow customers to purchase quality games with integrated Strategy Guides at a low price. How low you ask? Deluxe games will be released with the introductory price of $9.99/ ($6.99 Game Club price), the same cost as standard version games! (We have no estimated time frame for the expiration of the introductory rate, nor do we have a price point available for after the rate expires at this time. I will keep you updated when more information becomes available however.)

Here is a review of our current game offerings:

Collector’s Edition:
$19.99 / $13.99 Game Club price
Allows for early access
Provides an integrated Strategy Guide
Additional content (potential extra content can include: wallpapers, additional game play, soundtracks, concept art)
Game Club members will earn 3 punches on punch cards

Deluxe Games:
$9.99 / $6.99 Game Club Price
Saturday’s TGT for Game Club members (New Release for everyone on Sunday)
Provides an integrated Strategy Guide
Deluxe games will not be released as standard versions later
Game Club members will earn 1 punch on punch cards

Standard version:
$9.99 / $6.99 Game Club price
Game Club members will earn 1 punch on punch cards

Of course we also offer Strategy Guides as well!

I hope this helps clear things up. We will be listening for your feedback so let us know what you think!

According to Mudrock, the first Deluxe game will be released this coming weekend and is supposed to be Midnight Mysteries: Haunted Houdini. wave

Hi, Marian!

It's nice to see that BFG is offering its members so many choices. It's also nice to see that the deluxe games are the same price as the standard games; however, walkthrus are usually available online so the Strategy Guide isn't really necessary.

Thanks for the heads-up on this weekend's new release. I've been saving my last punch card credit and I love the "Midnight Mysteries" series.

Susan

For me, an integrated Stragedy Guide is great!!!
I hate getting out of a game to peek at a walkthrough. Teddo

I'm still waiting to find out if we will be able to use punch card coupon codes on Deluxe games. I'm pretty sure one Game Club credit will be accepted, but will post again if I find out more about this.

A lot of folks buy the CEs for the built-in strategy guides. Perhaps the Deluxe games will be just like CEs, except without the wallpaper, music tracks, concept art, etc. It will be interesting to find out. wave

Hi Teddo - yes, many folks love the integrated strategy guides. smile

Hi, Marian!

I'll wait to see what you find out because I assumed, since the deluxe games are the same price as the standard games, we could use a punch card coupon.

This sounds great. In the past I had questioned the importance of the wallpaper, music tracts, etc. It seemed like it was not only a waste of effort on the developers' part but something I was paying for but not using. The integrated strategy guide was all I ever used in the CEs. Hopefully, the Deluxe games will keep the guides but eliminate the rest. Keeping my fingers crossed here.

No bonus gameplay though. This can vary, but sometimes you don't get a good ending without the bonus gameplay.

Yes, currently you can use Game Club Credits and Punch Card Credits to purchase Deluxe games.

We will continue to release 2 CE's per week in addition to a Deluxe game.
Deluxe Editions will be applied to all genres.

It looks like you will be good to go with your punch card coupon, Susan.

Sounds good. I like games in which the Hint function can be used to find out where the player should go next. Having a built-in strategy guide is even better.

I think this is a great idea! I love the intergrated strategy guides, and don't use the wallpapers etc..If I can't live without the bonus game, then I will still purchase the CE.

I'm thinking these are simply standard game releases with an integrated SG, not a CE without the extra additions. Which is a plus because many times, one who uses a walkthrough, cannot reduce the game to desktop and has to close the game in order to check the walkthrough.

Now the walkthrough will be right there in the game, with easy access.

This is a plus in my books, and the fact that the price doesn't go up, right now anyway, is an added bonus.

This sounds great - well done again BFG! thumbsup

However, I do wish BFG would introduce the use of 2 punchcard credits in payment for a CE. wave

I really got confused over at BF forum on this topic. My understanding is that the deluxe games will be $6.99 just like the SE games. People in the BF forum are saying the price for a deluxe game is raised. What is you guys understanding of this?

As of right now, the moderators on Big Fish are saying that the 6.99 Game Club price for a Deluxe game will be an introductory price for an indeterminate amount of time (thus, the implication being that at some point the cost of a Deluxe game will be more than 6.99 for Game Club members); this is why people are assuming that the price of a Deluxe game for a Game Club member will at some point in the future cost more than this. wave

Ok, I see. But I can still buy the game when it comes out at the $6.99 rate if I'm in the time period?

Yes, for the foreseeable future, the Deluxe game cost for Club members will be $6.99. We will no doubt get an announcement if and when the cost goes up. wave
