Hi, I have a problem with darkness with this game. My monitor lightness is 100% on which hasn't helped. My graphics card does have Catalyst Control Centre which has the 3D option which I have turned on. No differance. I am not sure how to apply the color changes etc. Looking forward to some help here. cheers, Alfoil.

The patch was supposed to help lighten it up.

Even with the patch some areas were still pretty dark.

alfoil,

You said on the Catalyst Control Center screen you selected the 3D option. What that does is tell the program to apply the changes you make to Full-Screen 3D applications - in this case, the game.

Did you also adjust the brightness and contrast settings below the 3D option?

If not, use either the slider or little "up" arrow to the right of the slider for each to make the adjustments. There's also a Gamma setting you can adjust if you want or need to.

After you make the adjustments, click on the OK button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes and exit the Control Center.

Open the game and load your saved game. If the adjustments you made are too much or too little, exit the game, return to the Catalyst Control Center and adjust as needed. You may have to play around with them a little until you have them set so it's comfortable for you to see in the cavern.

Wouldn't that jar your mustard!

Will try both of your recommendations. I am going to wait until my better half comes home and get him to play with the adjustments.

Here again. I am pleased to say that I have sorted the problem with the lightening thanks to you lovely people. Grrr. I hate this game! I have a missing article from my inventory. How do I fix that? cheers, Alfoil.

Have you scrolled right or left to see all the inventory? I can't remember for sure, but this game may have moved inventory around to different slots. I think it also had a problem with dropping inventory -- at least in the original build. You may find your lost inventory back at the place you originally found it.

I liked Riddle of the Sphinx better. I'd still buy more games from this developer if they were made.

There I was at work, thinking about the game problem when suddenly I had a brain storm. The reason the piece of rope that I needed was missing from the inventory is because I had collected it after I had tried to do the statue puzzle. I then wondered if this is the reason that others have blogged that they had missing inventory. Worth a thought? cheers, Alfoil. PS. I backtracked and sure enough this is exactly what has happened.

Well, I went back to re do the bell puzzle and, joy on joy, the game crashed. I went back and repeated the puzzle and crashed again. Now what do I do? cheers, Alfoil.

Look in the game settings and see if there's a setting for Hardware Mode vs Software Mode. If you're set to Hardware Mode, try Software Mode.

The Web Archive link for Dreamcatcher's old support page is ***here***. They suggest Software Mode for low end computers on the page, but Software Mode also tends to be more stable because it doesn't depend so much on your video card drivers.

If you haven't installed the patch, you might try that (unless you're using a pre-patched version of the game). Here's the description:
Quote:
# The Omega Stone v1.10 Patch (3.4 MB)
The following issues have been fixed for version 1.10:
-Crashing to Desktop for Windows 2000 Users.
-Fix beeping at StoneHenge which stays with player.
-The Celtic Altar skulls visual bug is corrected.
-All areas with no music now fixed. -Multiple snake skulls can no longer be acquired.
-Magnifying glass appeared even after objects have been picked up.
-Chichen Itza stone slab clue for skull puzzle now more lit up.
-Fixed sounds when picking up Jade Mask at Chichen Itza.
-a few other minor sound and graphical glitches corrected.

Since this is an old patch, the "Crashing to Desktop for Windows 2000 Users" would probably include any NT-based version of Windows later than Windows 2000, though the description hasn't been updated to reflect this.

Hello, I'm back again. Have reached the celtic priests bedroom, got the key, done the cemetry and picked up the celtic cross. Back in the tower and when I tried to use it on the cross on the wall, no cross in inventory. Here I discovered that I now have 2 keys to the cemetry gate. Also, the game has crashed back to the desktop 3 times here now. I got the Bigfish has encountered a problem and has to close message. What do I do now? At this stage of the game can I delete some of the inventory pieces to make more room there? as I think it may be full. cheers, Alfoil.

I guess you could try it, though I think it was the pictures you took with your camera that caused the most problems.
