I recently bought (from GOG) and am enjoying replaying this classic. However,I was led to believe that this game had unlimited save slots. However, once I got to 20 saves, I cannot save any more games without replacing games I've already saved.
I'm playing on my Dell XPS (Win XP),no problems with the game (or my PC) otherwise.
Is this a saved game limitation due to the DOS Box the game uses to run on my computer?
Thanks
Rob NYC

No, DOSBox doesn't limit the save games. According to Metzo's review (follow the link below) you can create multiple directories for your save games, but each is limited to 20 saves.

Game will NOT let me create another directory for my saved games. Any folder I create gives me the prompt: "xxx is not a valid directory". I'm copying and pasting my directory path DIRECTLY.
Last time I buy a game that existed on DOS,that's for sure. There should have been some sort of warning on their website that this would happen. I see numerous comments to this effect on the GOG site. I should have done some research before buying.
Thanks,though,for the tip.

FInally figured it out. I had to create a name with a BRIEF title...DOS doesnt allow long titles or periods.commas(etc) in directory names.

Glad you figured it out.
The same thing can happen when you try to name saves for old Windows 3.1 games.

Credit goes to my wife, who is the computer expert in the family. Funny, I work all day with editing systems/computers editing television programs and commercials, but when it comes to my home PC,it's my wife who figures things out.
