I read in several threads where people had difficulty opening their CD drives and had to resort to the old paper clip trick etc. Here is a great tool that can address that issue and many others.
How many of you ever heard of Wizmo? It is a tiny program 37KB it was developed many years ago by Steve Gibson legendary computer security expert. You simply send an icon of the program to your desktop. Right clicking brings up the properties box. In target line you add the command you wish such as open d. When you click on the icon the program will open your drive. You can add a second Wizmo icon instructing that icon to close your drive.
There is at least a dozen different operations you can make an icon for. such as Reboot and many others. It is an amazing little tool. Gibson also has a thing called Shields Up that will test your firewall and tell you if there are any leaks or open ports exposing you to hackers.
I found this little beauty about twenty years ago. It works in any windows operating system from windows 3.1 to win7 I won't be without it.
Here is a link to the DL page with complete instructions how to use it. Gibson has lots of free security programs. It is worth checking out. Wizmo is a great tool.
