.....and before waiting 3 weeks before they answer has anyone had this problem?
I get an error saying the game isn't installed although it is; even started it up!

Patches don't usually work for downloadable versions of games. The patch you found is probably for the DVD version. The downloadable version should already be patched.

The patch was on the Gamersgate site with the game. The game version is 1.1; the patch updates to 1.2. I'm not sure why they don't have the patched version.

2 quick suggestions if you haven't tried already:
1)Did you install the Patch In the Game Directory itself before executing the Patch?
2)And if you have Vista or Win7, Did you try Right-clicking on the Patch and choose "Run as administrator"

That's weird that Gamersgate would supply a patch that doesn't work. I think you're going to have to contact Gamersgate about it. That's what I'd do. That or see if the game plays OK without the patch.

Yes I did that with one game; they got back to me 3 1/2 weeks later, after I had finished the game.
