Has anyone else run into this problem? The German demo of Lost Chronicles of Zerzura installs fine, but then the mouse pointer is locked on the screen. You can move an invisible pointer around and activate hotspots, but the game pointer is shown locked in one place.

I'm running Windows 7 with DirectX 11. I know there are patches 1.01 and 1.02 available, but I'm not sure if they only apply to the full game. In any case, the list of symptoms they fix do not include a frozen pointer.

Make sure you've installed the version of DirectX that the game uses, which is probably the latest version of DirectX 9.0c since the game is for XP as well as Vista and 7. If DirectX didn't come with the demo, get it from Microsoft.

Also make sure your video card meets the game's requirements. Going by the hard-to-read screenshot at Mobygames of the rear of the box, it needs a minimum of an ATI Radeon 9800 or Geforce 6800 and they recommend at least an ATI Radeon X1800 or Geforce 7800. If you've got Intel graphics, the game may not work properly.

Thanks for your help, Jenny100. My computer is fairly new and has a decent video card, so I'll try reverting to DirectX 9.0. I'll wait until I'm done with Amber's Blood and A New Beginning, just so there's no disruption of those games. Maybe there's not much chance of this anymore, but maybe by then the English demo or English game will be out.

Installing DirectX 9.0c doesn't "revert" your DirectX 11. It just adds DirectX 9.0c files so DirectX 11 is able to use them.
