Taken from here: An DirectX lag es nicht, hab mir gerade 9.29 gedownloaded.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen Translated by Google: In DirectX it was not, I've just downloaded 9:29. Could outsmart the system but, when I installed the game with my girlfriend (Oddly, it was there with Windows 7) and have copied the installed files and pulled at me on the computer. That was then.
So for all who have the same problem that the windows "install Zanzarah" to include: Install the game on just any PC on which it comes. Copy the folder. (Usually C: \ Program Files \ THQ \ Zanzarah - depending on hard disk) Pull it on your PC and then start the game. The file is to start in the folder "system". Currently it is the symbol
Sincerely I own a Win7 64bit and was so disappointed when it wasn't able to play Zanzarah, especially considering I had just bought a new copy (instead of constantly borrowing my friends) so that I'd be able to finish a complete playthrough. Having tried just about everything else I did as suggested, installing onto my roommates computer (Vista 32bit) and, without even starting up the game, copied the entire Zanzarah folder onto a disk. Transfered the folder to my own computer and plopped it right into my Program Files and started it up - no more of the annoying frozen in the kitchen bit! I have gotten to the point where you are given your pixie bag, I have 3 fairies who have all been through battles, I have saved and exited and reloaded - everything *seems* to work. I will update if I hit any snags. Hopefully someone will test this for 32bit, but I don't really foresee any problems. Might also work on a Win7 if *installed* in compatibility mode (since installation seems to be the cause of the kitchen freeze problem) but I'm not sure. Hope this helps some people get back to enjoying Zanzarah! =)

I did everything but stand on my head and whistle Dixie to get Zanzarah to run on my 64-bit Windows 7. It installed and started up just fine. But when I would try to walk Amy out of the kitchen, the game went completely haywire. I wonder what would happen with the installation that's on my XP computer.
Thanks, Kryztal_Ray - I may have to do a bit more trouble shooting here... I'll report back later this week.

Krystal_Ray, would you like that million bucks in cash or as a check! It works!
I just copied my Zanzarah file from my XP computer and put it into an existing THQ folder on my Windows 7 computer. Of course, I had to start it from the game icon in the file... I'll need to change the location pointer to the X86 folder in Windows 7 so I can use the icon from the desktop.
Now if I just could get some time to edit my Windows 7 and Games thread down in the Glitches Forum! Maybe next week...

Zanzarah and Shivers 1 were my two main disappointments! But I have my XP computer for Shivers 1 and now Zanzarah works! Yay!

If the solution above doesn't work for you (unfortunately it didn't for me), you can use mine instead: emulating an older system to run Zanzarah. On Win 7 64 bit, my game would crash once I tried to move in any direction from the kitchen. I tried several virtual clients (On lowest settings: 'Virtual PC' got about 10 Frames Per Second - unplayable. 'Virtual Box' was roughly 20 - the overworld was playable, but not the battles. The only one that worked was VMWare (A silky smooth 40-60 FPS on highest settings that's pretty darn perfect): http://www.vmware.com/You'll need a 32 bit windows installation disk, or alternatively boot from an .iso if you purchased your 32 bit windows online. I used Windows 7 32 bit, emulating a system with 2 processors and a 15gb hard drive, then copied over the zanzarah installation on a USB. I started out playing it safe at 640x480 16bit on lowest settings in game, but after that worked perfectly I upped it to 800x600 with highest settings and it still didn't break a sweat. Good luck!
