I recently bought an iMac and wondered if there was a list anywhere of adventure games that would play on my new computer. I bought a game last weekend that said WIN/MAC on the box but was disappointed when I couldn't open it because it was not supported by OSX. (I still have my PC so I can still play the games I have.)

Older Win/Mac games were made for OS 9 and earlier.
OS X is a completely different operating system (BSD Unix-based) and not backwards compatible with earlier versions.

You could still play many older games on your Mac using the Windows version, VMware Fusion, and a Windows 95 or 98 CD. But you'd have to set it up and VMware Fusion is a great product but not free and you have to make sure you get the most current version for it to work on your new Mac.

We've had a couple of recent posts on Mac versions in the Discussions forum ***here*** and ***here***.

I don't know if this mac is PPC-based or if it's Core Duo/Core 2 Duo/Quad core-based, but if this may help, there is a program (like Virtual PC for windows) that lets you run windows on your mac, this one is for PPC-based macs.

Here is the link (if it might help)

Virtual PC for mac (PPC-based)

If she has an Intel mac then she might be able to run the bootcamp assistant so she can have Windows on her mac, side by side (on the HDD) but she'll have to reboot each time she wants to switch OS's.

Cruise,
All current Macs are Intel Macs.
They haven't made PowerPC Macs for years.

When I bought the iMac I was told I could partition the HD if I wanted to install Windows. I'm not that computer savvy and I'm still getting used to the Mac. There are games I can download for the Mac, so I think I'll hold off on the Windows for a while.

That's known as "Boot Camp." Unless you're familiar with partitioning a hard drive, it's safer to use VMware Fusion. But if you want to know more about Boot Camp,

and here's a pictorial how-to

Thanks, Jenny, that looks very interesting, but I think I'll just leave my Mac the way it is for now. I stiil have my Dell desktop with Vista and my laptop with Windows 7. I also have an older desktop with XP that still works. Did I mention my old eMachine with Win 98 in the back of my closet? (Am I a computer hoarder? Maybe an intervention is in order.)
