Its time to replace my old lap-top,
a h/p with 17screen.
It is better to buy a all in one p.c?
The use of my lap was for playing adv. games
and internet.
Im asking couse I dont need a lap to take it
with me or to use it out side and I dont
have enough room for a desk one.

Thank you in advance wave

Hello,
I would always recommend a desktop over a laptop for gaming.
Its hard to imagine not having the space for a desktop. You could put it under the desk, you could get a bracket and mount to the underside of the desk off the floor, you could get a mini-tower case, you can even still get horizontal cases so you can put the monitor on top to save room, you can mount the monitor to the wall on a swing arm and use that space, you can get a bigger desk.I mean I dont know what else to say,you can somehow make it work.

An all-in-one would have a bigger screen, but would be less portable than a laptop. Portability won't matter if you're always using it at the same desk. Whatever you get, make sure it has a decent video card. If you buy one with Intel graphics, you'll be limited in the games you can play. Get one with ATI Radeon or Nvidia Geforce with discrete video memory and decent graphics capability. Remember you're not going to be able to upgrade your video card in a laptop or all-in-one.

Remember you'll pay more for a laptop or all-in-one than for a desktop with equivalent capability, and won't be able to upgrade the way you would with a desktop.

I was curious if all-in-ones even offered graphics with discrete video memory. At HP, you had to go up to the $1,060 model to get dedicated video memory. The rest were all integrated graphics with shared memory. One that was less than $1,000 had 6 GB of RAM and an Nvidia 610M, but I don't know if that would be good for gaming. Maybe it depends on what kind of gaming you do.

I avoid anything that can't be opened up and worked on - but, that's just me.

All-in-ones are generally meant for office use, so don't offer much for gamers. But I agree with Inland.

They're essentially the same as laptops. They can either have Intel graphics or have a video card (usually a "mobile" version, like a laptop). Some all-in-one video cards have discrete video memory. For example some of ***Dell's 27" all-in-ones*** have NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 2GB GDDR5. The least expensive is $1599.99.

An Nvidia 610M is probably OK for most casual games, though it might be sluggish with some. It's not appreciably better than Intel graphics.
