When we moved to Arizona my wife's computer wasn't working properly so I formatted the drive and installed Windows XP Professional SP 2. Whenever I go on the web (IE 8) whether I'm doing a Google search or anything else the screen rather than moving smoothly goes slow and moves like an accordian. Any suggestions how to solve this? I'm not sure what you mean by "moves like an accordion," but it sounds like you may have a stuck key on your keyboard.

The best way to describe it ias if a bar was rolling down the screen as it scrolls.

Have you installed the video card drivers yet? The drivers XP uses by default may be slow or create artifacts when the screen moves.
