I found a copy of Timelapse in Goodwill, in excellent shape, and am playing it, very good game so far. In the Egyptian age I got through the temple puzzles, got the red jewel from the altar. proceeded back the hallway at the rear of the temple, encountered a cobra that disappeared when I showed it the red jewel. Moving on, I came to a well. I dropped the red jewel into the well, expecting the spiral steps to extend from the walls of the well, but instead got a speech from a pharoh looking guy. looking around, I found a square on one of the pillars in front of the well with a stair step symbol on it. I pressed it, it receded and popped back out. looking down the well, the steps are still retracted. I have spent a long time searching and retracing my steps but am stymied. Can anyone enlighten me on how to get the steps to extend?

At the Dock Temple, after you used the crystal ball around the statue to find the symbol for each of the Egyptian Gods, did you reroute the electrical power on the power panel to provide power for the staircase?
