Hi
Am in Boston and Washington for about two weeks in May and am going to drive between the two via Gettysburg.
Would be keen on any advice/suggestions for how long to stay, must dos, should avoids etc re Gettysburg
Anything to do on the drive (will avoid the big cities) also welcomed.
Thanks smile

Flotsam how exciting. May is a beautiful time. I think the cherriy trees might still be in bloom in Washington. There is a lot to do and see in both Washington and Gettysburg. Wherever you are staying I'm sure you'll find information on what to see and do. The locals will be able to help you.

The Gettysburg National Park has a very good visitor center, with lots of information, maps, etc. There are guided tours as well as info for doing your own self guided tour. I would advise doing a bit of prep before visiting, as simple as watching the movie "Gettysburg" or reading Jeff Sharra's book "Killer Angels", a very accessible account of the battle. You will be well rewarded when visiting the battle field.

PS. You should plan on a full day for a visit to the battlefield.
