Is et possible to play Gothic 2 gold Edition on Win 7 64 bits? Tried a few tricks found on Google, tried compatibility, no go!It installs but will not start. Did GOG found a way to make it work? I read a few forums and it semms to be: youre lucky or youre not!!!

I found this page; it says for Windows 7 32 bits, but further down the page folks say that it works for Windows 7 64 bits as well.

Gothic 2 Gold Windows 7

Step #1 also says that it is the installation of the Gold Edition.

I had seen that page but it said that it is for N of Raven
too and I don't want it. I thought it was so complicated so rejected it. But getting desperate, I will try that later for sure. And let you know. Thanks Marian

It does look a bit complicated but some of the steps are optional. If I find any more info, I will let you know. smile

No Marian, it does not work for Gothic 2 vanilla. I uninstalled the whole thing and will probably put aside my old CDs and buy it at GOG, hoping that one will work! Just finished Gothic 1, at least for the 4th time I guess and wanted to go on with the story tonight. This is when I miss my old XP!!! Thanks anyway Marian.

I'm sorry none of that worked. If you look on YouTube (and maybe you already have), there are also folks showing how to get the game running on Windows 7. After all the time you have spent fiddling with it, though, I think that GOG is a good idea. Hopefully that will work for you with no tweaking necessary - if not, they will try to help you. smile

The You tube solution did not work for me. I have it. Found it this morning. Gothic 2 is up and running, getting ready to come out of Xardas tower now!!! On GOG forum there is a thread on tweaks etc. 3 words: Gothic system Pack opened a thread to all solutions. 2 patches downloaded and installed and that's it. I was so surprised when I saw the game start. It even has all the resolutions needed for all our big Monitors!!! Thanks Marian. After losing so many hours looking for solutions, I deserve to go back to my game!

That's wonderful news, Jacline. Looking at the GOG forum was a very good idea. Enjoy the game - I know you will. It sounds like you are a huge Gothic fan! bravo
