I've got the French version, which actually has English voices:
"Simon the Sorcerer: Rencontre Avec Les Extraterrestres"
On the back of the DVD case it says:
"Voix en anglais, sous titres en francais"
(voice in English, subtitles in French)
So it would certainly be playable by an English-speaking person, as long as they didn't also need English subtitles.
I never played it because it uses StarForce v5
StarForce v5 may not be as bad as StarForce v3, and it may work on Windows 7 as well as XP. There is also a NoCD for the French version that Google will find for you. But I never finished Simon the Sorcerer 4, so never got around to playing this Simon the Sorcerer 5. I opened the DVD case to check the DVD (which looked fine), but never installed it.
The German and English versions apparently don't use StarForce, but the English version doesn't seem to be available and the German version doesn't say "Voice in English" on the back the way my French one does. It took a while to find a picture of the back of the German DVD case, but I found one pictured here
http://www.ebay.de/itm/181441171821Hover your mouse over the picture and it will zoom in. If you just click the picture, it won't zoom as much. No sign of "Stimme in Englisch Untertitel in Deutsch" which is something like what "voice in English subtitles in German" would look like in German. Since the developer was in Berlin, it's likely the words are in German.
There is a French version for sale at
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/180790218827as a Buy it Now, ships worldwide. However it's a reissue and may not be the same. You'd have to ask the seller if says "voix en anglais" on the back of the case. I kind of doubt they'd have released a new version with French voices since the developer went bankrupt. The new version may or may not use StarForce v5, like my version. Sometimes reissue versions skip that junk.
