Hi Rowan, I use the GOG downloader to download a game. After the game is through downloading (I'm running Windows 7), the game files end up in C:\GOG Games. Double-click on the GOG Games folder, find the folder for your game, then find the exe file and double-click on that to install the game. After the installation is complete, shortcuts are added to your Start Menu and to your desktop so you can launch your game like you would any other. If you can't find the file download, just click on Gothic on your game shelf, and you will see the Windows Installer there (the link to the download). If you need more help, someone can move these posts over to Glitches.

Thanks, Marian.
Rowan, glad you got it. I had no idea (and also, no net for the afternoon). Have fun!

Thanks, Marian. I used the Gog installer and then the Windows installer. I didn't realize you could use both. I thought it was one or the other. Rowan, When you click on Windows Installer, you're simply getting a game that will install and play on a version of Windows...or Linux or Mac if it says that. Put another way, when it says Windows Installer, it's the game you mean to download, one configured for Windows. If you have Planescape Torment on your shelf, you'll see that you can choose Windows or Mac. Click on Mac and the file will change to Mac Installer. You can configure the GOG Downloader to install the game for you after it's downloaded under Settings. Remember to Clear the game from the GOG installer once it's finished downloading or the next time you get a game it will dl 'again' in addition to the new game. Found that out the hard way. Games from GOG end up in My Documents on my Windows 7 computer. The folder is GOG.com Downloads and each game I download has a folder there along with any of the extra goodies, such as avatars and manuals, I dl with it. Each .exe file is inside every individual folder there. It's simple to find the GOG downloads file in My Docs and it's easy to delete any games you don't want to keep on your computer from it. They're always on your GOG shelf anyway. Gil.

You know how we all tend to assume that people know more than they do sometimes. GOG must have assumed that everyone would realize Windows Installer really means "this game comes with a Windows Installer". This time I did know it, but I can't tell you the number of times people have written something that seems obvious to them but it's based on knowledge that I just don't have! That's one reason I hate it when someone refers to a game by just its initials and never spells it out. I may have played the game but I may not so I'm wondering what the heck is that? Or worse, check your CPV for PIDs and run the XBZ to see if URGs come out. (Totally fictional but then often enough what I read makes just about as much sense. ) By all means, Clear that GOG installer! Gil.

And if you want to make a backup copy of your game, make sure you do this before you install the game on your computer.
I love GOG. And somehow I have 96 games on my GOG shelf.....
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

You would say that, hagatha. Naturally, I had to go look at my shelf. Oh, boy.... But in my own defense, 7 or 8 of them were free! Gil.

While I still like to turn my pages, I've become addicted to that instant gratification through the Kindle app on my Surface tablet!
