I've just started the Gahreesen Age, have gotten my Ki, and I'm trying to jump that crack in the floor. Every time I try I miss, and what is so aggravating is having to go back to Relto and reload the age again (my loading times are awfully long for some reason). Can anyone tell me where is the best place to try and jump that crack... <img border="0" alt=" " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

Jenny, I just did that earlier today. Did you try a running jump? It worked for me first time. Kay

There are two cracks (yeah, I went back in the game). One is where you approach the (first, if you took left path first) rotational device on a platform with the linking book. Here you can avoid the crack by going all the way around (clockwise).
Second is the one where you can spot a 'page' on the other side of the crack. Here you have to be rather close to the golden ruin piece. If you turn left and right a little while staying close enough to the crack you can spot to sharp spots where the jump will be shortest. Carefully aim direction and when ready start running and then jump at the right moment.
Good luck

Jenny -- it sounds counter-intuitive, but I had the most success doing this while jumping: I'd line myself up using third person perspective and the keyboard, giving myself enough room to take a couple of steps forward. Then I'd switch to first person perspective, and put the cursor in exactly the place I want to go, and at what would be about waist level when I landed. Then, with my left hand resting lightly on the space bar, I'd hold both right and left mouse buttons down. There was usually a slight pause before I started to move. When it seemed like the right moment, I would hit the space bar and hold it down -- holding it down actually seemed to make the jump go on farther. (In this jump you don't have to worry about jumping too far -- there are other jumps in the game though where you just tap the space bar and then let up on the mouse so that you don't jump TOO far.) After a particularly tricky jump, I would switch back to third person to see exactly where I was before making my next move -- you don't want to make the jump and then step back over the cliff!

Thanks for all the help, guys! I have been doing a running jump, but without success, so I'm going to try Becky's method...

Well, y'all are way ahead of me, but I just discovered an interface trick that might help in places. Hit F1 to go into first person mode. Then click and hold the right mouse button, and hit the arrow keys to move. You scroll around and "aim" with the mouse, and hit the forward arrow key when you want to move. It makes the interface very similar to Conspiracies, which I think is well done. Just been playing a bit the last two days, and this has become my favorite way of getting around.

I DID IT!!!!! Thanks for all the help--I managed to find the first journey cloth, and then promptly quit to mend my shattered nerves. I've been doing something similar, Albert--I hold down both mouse keys and use the forward arrow. This allows me to run and also to swing around, unless of course I need to walk slowly, then I let loose of the mouse buttons and just use the arrow key. I don't think I'll be ahead of you for long--this is really tough, and since I've been admitted to the Prologue, I want to spend some time in the Neighborhood too...

Yeah Jenny I've been playing the Gahreesen Age all day and the frustration level is high. I finally got through it. I've made the same jumps many times due to the game not saving my game properly and having to backtrack. Sheeesh! Now heading into the Kadish Tolesa Age. At the first journey I saved and exited. As you said I need to get my nerves together. Good luck with the rest of your game. Kay

That exact same thing happened to me, Kay--after I went back into the game tonight, my first journey wasn't there and I had to make that jump again! But it only took me two tries this time, and when I found the second cloth, I wound up with two lights, so I'm hopeful it's ok now. Dadguy, I'd like to see you in the Live game, if I only knew how that Ki worked! I've figured out some of it, but don't know exactly what the buddy list is all about...

Hi Jenny, Here is a very informative link to info on how to use the KI. KI Info There is a section about adding Buddies. We were all where you are at one time, wondering what we had to do and how it all worked. Little by little it get's familiar. Look forward to meeting you in the game. Dadguy

Jenny are you in the Eder Kemo & Eder Gira Age yet? I started this age last night and I am having a devil of a time trying to jump from the small ledge onto the platform with the geyser on it. I must have tried it 100 times or more. I always overshoot and it doesn't seem to matter where I stand on the ledge. Its getting mighty hot down here. Kay

I think so, Footprint--at least I never saw any sign of it in the single player game (which is referred to as URU Prime, I understand)...

Thanks Jenny and Becky. I've seen the 'local' KI but was wondering about the detailed function in the live version.
I saw some pics of it's functionality now ... still have to wait for admission to the live age.

Thanks, Becky--now that I think about it, I didn't get as far as Gahreesen before I was admitted to URU Live, so naturally I hadn't found a KI yet-- DUH...
