I have found the correct mule and got the "pigeongram" from the hotel. I can't figure out how to follow the mule to the cabin. In the original game, you type "follow mule", but you can't do this in the new edition. Any help will be appreciated.

I hope someone will be able to help. I looked through the Steam forums and there were a couple of comments about the mule, but nothing I could find that pertained to this part of the game.

i found some help for your problems,bring down the game menue,1 of them will be options,click on it,1 of them is
point & click,click on it,now you will see anothe option
(command line)click on it,the whole game is the same still
what you loose is the mouse,the game is controlled by using
the arrow keys,also all other things is controlled,by tiping
just type "follow mule",you will see nothing on the screen
but watch what you type,because you dont see nothing,very
important,to type,(ENTER),after each command

The walkthrough that come with the game say 'type "follow mule" when you are out in the country'
I did this on many screens Samuel but i get the message on screen "try that just a smidgen further outta town!"

And when you play it in point & click it say 'get the mule. Make your way south (4 miles south of Sutter's Fort'
I stand for the hotel 'east 21 / south 2' How far are 4 miles (east/south)??.
I walk on many screens but the mule dont'go ?

here i give you more help,when you come out from the hotel
go to post where you tied the mule,type"look mule","look brand",it must say (stubborn mule),then you know you have
the correct mule if not,you have the wrong mule o.k you have the the right mule consider the place,front hotel you
have a narrow path,the mule to follow you must have enough place to move if not it runs away,so before you go any place
save game,then "untie mule" "get mule"the mule must now follow you,dont go to fast,head south watch mule,make your way south,untill you are well out in the country
4 miles south of sutters fort,now type "follow the mule"
dont run,or go too fast,he will lead you there,it is true that this place is hard to do,but you must try,if going 1 side south,is no good ,try the other way around,it must work

I have James' Mule and try anything but can't follow this mule ??
It don't say stubborn mule. James mule has the key/horseshoe brand

you say for sure that you have the right mule,i am sure not
by looking on the brand itself,you still dont know,because
there is 2 of them,1 from james,1 from you,so how do you know for sure,i play the same game,today i got to james cabin in no time,i will tell you why,from the place where
the mules are,i played in ,(command line),as i said there was 2 of them,first i made sure wich the 2 are,then i typed
on both "look brand","look mule",on the 1st one nothing
happened,i went to the 2nd one,here the game told me,(this is james mule your brother,dont loose it),evidence #1,when
i took it on the way out,the man by the door,yelled on me
then relaxed and let me have it,evidence #2,,i came out from
the hotel,"get mule",i went to the right side screen a little,then i saw a path going south,i went 2 screens south
"follow mule",the game told me as for you,i decided i turned
right another 2 screens,i saved game,"follow mule",nice music started,but the mule went very fast,i allmost lost it
but i still followed it,in no time the mule and i came to cabin,i wish you all the best,samuel

Yes Iam at the Cabin

I did go right from the hotel and then 2X south and right and in that screen click handpictogram on mule "follow mule" and i can follow the mule to the cabin
and in point&click version you can easy follow the mule.
