I believe you right click on it in inventory to make it show onscreen so you can piece it together. Then left click each piece to move it and right click a piece to rotate it. If you scatter the pieces about the screen and even outside the little boundaries shown and keep them from overlapping as much as possible it is easier to tell which fits to which. Then you can maneuver them inside the "frame". Be sure they (the pieces) are close together AND inside he frame or they won't show in the inventory as done. laugh

Aren't you just able to click and drag the pieces where you want them to go? And maybe by right clicking; you can rotate them??

Billy Bob's correct. Left click will turn your cursor into the piece and lieft click a second time will drop it where you want it. Right click to rotate. Also, when you get a piece into the proper spot it kind of clicks into place.

I found it really, really helpful to right click every single inventory item as soon as you picked it up.

I think right clicking was more important in this game than in any other I've ever played...

Okay, I have done everything but find Bates. I went to my room and found him but talking by the fireplace he mentioned nothing about tools. I went to the stables but I could get the hammer. What did I miss. I swear I read these walkthroughs and still get lost. LOL

Did you use the key to open the attic door? Inside you need to click on everything available, including the locked chest and the boarded up door. That should trigger the conversation about the tools and allow you to get the hammer...

you need to right click to examine the bushes and wall just above them...

I think you probably have to click on the stain on the base of the tower before you can pick up the camera. When you click on it, Samuel will say something about needing to make a record of this...

I am at the altar after using the strange object on the opening. I am now supposed to take the object from the wall but it won't come out. I have worked the puzzle and been to the catacombs. Help Please. Thanks

Did you just complete an "Altar" puzzle? Which one? Again, I'm getting the thought that you could be at either of two locations. A little detail of what led to this predicament might help to help you. laugh

I went to the altar down the stairs. I placed the object in the wall. I am not upstairs which is probably where I am supposed to be. I have saved games so I can backtrack if I need to. Thanks

Trouble,

I might have missed something but the sequence should be:

After you finished the puzzle, go down to the catacomb and see that it is dark.
Look at an opening similar to the one upstairs where you inserted the object.
Go back upstairs and take the object from the wall.
Go back down and insert the object on the similar opening in the catacomb. Now there will be light.

If it is not answered above - post again, OK.

I have already figured that out. Now I cannot get the valve to turn even though the lights come on. I keep getting, the valve is stuck.

I assume you're talking about after you've fallen into the mine. Leave it. it doesn't do anything else.

Since you already have the light on and see the live cable. After this the door is going to be seen.

Live cable problem - Pick up all your other inventories but the camera is smashed. See a live cable hanging by the grilled door on the left. DO NOT TOUCH or you die! Click on metal box on the left middle shelf in the other room. You take the wire cutters. Press the red button at the mechanism to cut power. Use the wire cutters on the now dead cable to cut it. Press the red button again to turn on the light.

Open the grilled door - Try to leave but the grilled door is locked. Right click on door and Samuel will note that the key is on the other side. Use the wire cutter on the grill and then click to get the key from the other side. Use key on lock.

I am in the sanitorium but I cannot get the nurse to make a phone call for me. I have collected everything outside and have talked to the boiler man. I have been to the graveyard and the rear part of the graveyard. What now? Thanks

I think what is necessary is for Samuel to state that 'I need to see James' Cell'. He says this after talking completely with the boiler man.

Then be sure you have the syringe and have checked the rear part of the graveyard by clicking on all of the clickables. smile

This would be neat game if it weren't for whatevers. LOL

I think and will check if I have a saved game here.

I am now stuck in the morgue. I have the symbol and I have seen the dead body and head. Where is the altar on a tower in front of a throne? I tried to go upstairs to find this but I cannot get out out of the morgue.

The altar bit is a cutscene, one of Samuels visions. There are more things to be found in the morgue, think forensic clues smile

I have talked to the nurse and I have found James dead. I am at the morgue after leaving the lighthouse and have found Dr. Hermann dead. His body is on the table and his head is in the bucket, on the floor. I clicked the symbol into the diary. There is supposed to be an altar rise on a tower in front of a throne. The tower comes up from the green abyss. I tried to leave the morgue so I could look for this tower, but I cannot leave, yet.

The part of the altar-throne is a cutscene that should happen when you click the diary on the symbol.
After the cutscene, just continue in the morgue and the game. You do not need to leave the morgue.

The cutscene never did show up in the morgue. I got a blank screen for a few seconds and that was it. Now I cannot get into the cemetary while waiting on the priest. I can go to the cemetary before I enter the church but not after. I have been to the castle, pub, and morgue. But I do not have access to the cemetery.

This part is one of those that needs a lot of coming back and forth and patience. One gamers stated that it took her 4-5 times to ask the priest if his done yet and then go through a lot of places to get an answer from the Father. Try again and wait. smile

Could it be that because I cannot access the cemetary, the priest will not have a "yes" for me. I have been all over the place several times but still nothing happens.

I have been everywhere about ten times but I cannot move on. There must be a trick somewhere. I go to the house, then down to the morgue. I go in the front door of the castle. I walk in the pub but there is nothing to say to the bartender. What have I missed? LOL

Be patient.......................Ha!ha! This was the worst section of the game. <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" /> He'll eventually tell you "Yes". I believe it took me 4 times going back to the priest for him to answer me.

I agree with Jenny. There wasn't action violence -- no shooting people and blood spurting out in slow motion -- but there were plenty of really disturbing images and nightmare causing things.

BTW, did you ever get into the cemetary? I was not myself blocked from there at any point. Just curious.

Trouble,

Send me your saved game and let me see what I can find out.
Look at the 'LOAD' of the game and count from the top - down to the saved game you have problem with - to know its saved game number.

Open your main drive, then Program files, then The Adventure Company and the The Black Mirror folder.
You will see several files labeled save.#
Select the saved game where you have problem.
Right click this saved game and then select 'send to'.
Then select 'mail recipient'.
Mail it to me then. smile

I have backtracked several times to see if I missed anything but I still cannot get into the cemetary. Something has to be wrong. I went to the Black Mirror file but there is no list of saved games. Just read me, the website, uninstall, and the game itself.

Okay. I am almost finished. However I cannot get the eerie gate to open. I have gone through this maze several times, but nothing happens. And MaG, thanks for all of the help, so far.
My opinon on this game would be R before it would be M.
There really is ot anything to it, as far as M rated material. I thought this game might be like Dracula. Disappointed, but great graphics and good story line.

I think that just has stuff that you installed on it and the readme with the same instructions that are in the manual--you don't need it to actually play the game...
