Hi Everyone,
I have windows 7 pro. I did play this game on this computer with no problems. At some point I got a bad virus and reformatted back to factory settings. I never had luck useing system restore.
Well I was thinking about playing this game again and can not get it to play at.
The screen will flicker and I get "a error has been deteded which prevents the game from continuing"
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the diffrent comability settings and as administer. Nothing seems to work. Always the same message.
I saw this game for sale on GOG for $6.00 and it said it would play on windows 7.
How ever I know nothing about this company. Is it like steam? Do they take PayPal.
Any opioins on GOG or help getting this game running would be great.
Oh I did download a patch but it won't open because the game won't run. It seeemed to installed fine too. Thanks everyone maryjo

Virus will often hide in restore points and re-infect from system restore. Getting rid of restore points is often a first step to getting rid of a virus.

GOG is a reputable company.
Along with Steam, it's one of the main sources of downloadable games. GOG's specialty is with older games while some newer games are only offered at Steam.

Unlike Steam, you don't need a "client" to download, install, or run the game with GOG. There is no "client" you have to set to "offline mode" if you don't want to be hooked to the Internet while playing. There is no "online activation" needed to run a game from GOG.

GOG does have a downloader, but it's optional -- you have the choice of whether or not to use it. I don't use the downloader, but I think Draclvr does.

Yes.

I like GOG and use it almost exclusively.

Have you tried all different compatibility modes with your game?
Sometimes Windows 2000 or NT compatibility works better than Windows 95 or 98 compatibility.

I don't have any experience with running Return to Krondor specifically. GOG does tweak games to make them more compatible with newer operating systems.

Another thumbs up and hearty GOG recommendation here.

Since you're already tried all the compatibility modes and running as administrator, I have no other ideas and I think GOG is your best bet.

Once again, weeds are my life!

Hi everyone.
Well no problem signing up for GOG and ordering the game. After that a headache.
just got really frustrated trying to figure things out even popped a email off to them.
Took a nap and a break. Then tried again. I don't know what I did . Now it is downloaded in my computer and playing WELL

Thanks again everyone maryjo
