For those of you who might need instructions for cryptic crossword clues, check out this page . These have all been created by a variety of well-known constructors. There may be one or two that we might question, but they're still fun. Please explain all answers. -1. Fuel makes a favorite aerobatic maneuver end abruptly (6) -2. Arrangement for ten-time car payment (10) -3. Debating field event with snitch (10) -4. Arranged to write will during bad dream (10) -5. Incidentally taking up litter? (4) -6. Twelve keeping horse in shape (7) -7. English sailor in standard cheap hotel (7) -8. Somehow staying dark and gloomy (7) -9. Part of the background in the bustling metropolis (9) -10. Cad turned angry in European city (9)
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

6. Nonagon = shape - noon (twelve) containing (keeping) nag (horse). (I spent some time trying to justify rhombus, on the basis of h or ho being horse!)

I agree with Denis about 5 being tougher than 6, and I think that soporific usually means causing drowsiness (rather than drowsy) so that I may have misused it ( I recall lettuces being described as soporific in one of the Peter Rabbit books).
