It's an older game and not available for download anywhere, as far as I know. I believe that oldbroad is playing this on her Windows XP computer, and no idea whether the game would run on systems newer than that, although I tend to doubt it. I see a few for sale on eBay; here is one listing.

I've never heard of this game until I read this thread. Can anyone tell me if and where this game is available for download? It's not available for download -- not from any legitimate site anyway -- and probably won't ever be due to the presence of 16-bit code. Pilgrim was originally published in 1997 for Windows 3.1/95. Windows 3.1 means 16-bit code, which won't run on 64-bit Windows outside of emulation. Although the game was re-released in 2001 for Window 95/98/ME, it's not likely that the 16-bit code was replaced because Windows 95/98/ME is 32-bit and works fine with 16-bit code. 32-bit XP also works with 16-bit code.

I agree... definitely one of my biggest pet peeves with some games.

" Mad, did the picky part have anything to do with having to do things in an exact order?" After all this time I honestly can't say for sure, oldbroad, but I think it's very likely it would have. Some of those older games did suffer from such faults and I found consulting a walkthrough to be the best way to get past them ]

Oh, dear !! Well I hope you do manage to carry on, oldbroad. On the whole, even though it had its moments, I did like this game

I typed the wrong thing above. It is the cutler that I'm clicking the money bag on (I typed the money changer above but that was my bad memory typing) which is what the walkthrough says to do, and then you are supposed to click Paul on him. When I click the money bag, the cutler stops sharpening and looks up, then when I click Paul on him he looks down. He doesn't do anything else. Doesn't start sharpening again, doesn't talk, doesn't take the money. Therefore, I cannot go back to Paul's home without the maid shutting the door in my face. I guess I will play the part over and hopefully be done with it.
I DO like the game Mad, but when I have to do the same thing over and over, I need long breaks in between. I'm going to go give the replay a try right now though!
Only ended up having to replay 1/2 of the section. Started where I knew what everybody needed but I hadn't started fulfilling their needs. I think the difference was something to do with when I did the scale puzzle. Not sure though but I didn't have any trouble after that.
Am now in the Abbey dungeon.

I'm stumped. I am trying to find Durandal the sword. I found "a" sword and I found a staff. There is a room with holes all in the floor that the staff will disappear into. I thought I was putting it in the sword or something but nope, it is going into the floor never to be seen again and doesn't seem to accomplish anything except that the holes are no longer active hot spots.
Or is it going in the sword? I can't really tell, but the hot spot on the top of the sword does go away when I put the staff in there. I am doing this on the slab where the sword goes. But even if this is correct, I am still stuck then. It is still not Durandal and I don't see anything else to do.
Can you try to hint me?
Thanks!

After you have picked up the sword and the staff, the walkthrough says to go back down to the basement mausoleum and place the sword at: The staff gets placed somewhere else. Let me know if this helps get you moving again.
