Let's review:

You have already finished the 3 pyramids in the sand and opened the secret door.

You have the metal bar and the piece of column.

Look at-click the right support of the boat. Van Helsing says to break the support. Use axe on the right support of the boat.

---Use the piece of column under the right side of the now unsupported boat.

---Use the metal bar on the piece of column. Use the metal bar again to push the unsupported boat down the stairs to the pool inside the secret room.

Go down to the secret room and walk over the funerary barge that is now on top of the water.

I am having trouble with the safe not opening so I can get the key. Am in Goldaming manor and have entered the direction co-ordinates correctly as in your walkthru. But nothing happens. Where exactly is this safe? Maybe I'm looking in wrong place.

If it's not plaques in the salon (with the dials) or the upper room, I just don't know where to look as have checked other rooms. Help please. Thank you.

PS: great walkthrough, MaG. Lots better than any I've found.

Hi fizzypop,

Let's recap:

You placed paper over the metal plates in the salon and library to obtain holed papers.
You then placed the paper from the library onto the metal plate in the salon and clicked it over the letters. The letters are placed in Reports.
Then you placed the paper from the salon onto the metal plate in the library and clicked over the letters. A further set of letters are placed in your Reports section.

You now have 2 separate sets of letters in Reports:
SE E N SE N SE and N E N S SE E

Then turn the dials on the safe to these positions using compass direction.

It might help if you go back to a previous saved game before starting this puzzle, and replay.

luck

Yes I have done all that. Is the safe the one where you set the dials to direction co-ordinates?

Will try your suggestion about restarting a saved game. Thank you.

Yes, that's the safe. Perhaps double-double-check that you have entered the co-ordinates correctly.

Good luck with the replay.

Having a bit of problem with the desk mini game in this glitchie game. I have opened the front panel on the desk but the lighted balls for the star shape do not respond nor does the reset button. Figure it must be my fault but have tried the walkthru and it's not working for me.

Could someone take my hand thru this, please. Two days of frustration is enough for me. Thank you.

fizzypop,

Try this better illustrated walkthrough - here.

Also please use one thread per game. You can find all your postings at top of the page under My Place. Thanks.

Thanks so much MaG. I will try it. And thanks for showing me how to get to my other posts. I read that I should use a current posting on the subject but, dumb me, I couldn't find my earlier one.

-----------

Well, the game is still not working even after using the newer illustrated wt. Is the lighted ball supposed to move off the point of the star?

The only ball that lights up is the first ball I click on. None of the others do anything afterwards. But the star point I clicked on first will start rolling down off the point.

Are the star points supposed to be clicked in numerical order? I'm beginning to think this might be a glitch in the game. Sure will hate to give up at this point.

The reset button does nothing either. Of course, I only have one lighted point, so maybe it's just me.

Thank you for any help you can give. Have a good day.

Yes, click on the points in the order they are displayed on the diagram in Malcolm's walkthrough. Press the reset button to begin with, to make sure you are starting afresh with the puzzle.

Ok Rushes, thank you. I guess it's a glitch then because I've done them in order many, many times and nothing happens. Wouldn't the reset button, when pushed, take off the one lit point? Because by then I have clicked on a few buttons in hopes of the game doing something further and it Doesn't.

I have tried restarting at earlier points in the game so guess I'm stuck. confused Anyone have a save at this point? tired

Yes, I have a save game. You'll need to update the public e-mail box in your profile, though, or send the info to me in a PM, and I'll get the save sent straight off to you.

Rushes, I updated the profile.

Fizzypop, Check the saved game I sent. I think this is after the book is opened. Be sure to read the book.

Thank you MaG and Rushes. happydance Very kind of you to help this 'computer illiterate' person. I have received and installed the save and am now off to see what was in the safe. Boy, ya'll saved the game for me. And I really needed those instructions, Rushes. I'm lost at stuff like that.

This game is so full of glitches that I'm ready to trash it. The save worked beautifully and I got the chalice and other thingy (oops, memory blip) but now can't scare the rats away from backpack. It worked before I installed the save and I guess that's the reason it won't work now. Why do they bother to make such bad games? I don't need all this frustration from the game, I could just talk to my husband!crazy

Read the WT again and it said the backpack and rats are close together so be careful where you click. Before the save, it was easy
to click. When I clicked on the rats, Van Helsing said the rats were dangerously aggressive and he needed to get rid of them before he could pick up the backpack. Now it's "No, I cannot do that". If I hear that one more time, the men in white will be coming here to take me away.

Ok, I'm thru venting. (Not)

Have you clicked on the body as well as the backpack? Van Helsing will realise the identity of the body.
Did you make the torch, light it, and use it on the rats to scare them away?

Yes, I did. He said the winner of the chemistry test was the missing student hanging there and I made the torch and lit it.

You know, maybe I didn't click on the body this time since I knew who it was already. I'll go double check that. Thanks Rushes.

Ok I clicked on the backpack and got Van Helsing speculating that the body was the missing student. Baker was his name. But I noticed something odd just now.

Before the save, when the space bar was clicked, I had two red hands showing the rats and then the backpack. Now I only have one red hand show up tho two different spots will light up just by clicking around the area. Regardless of the spot clicked on, V H just says 'No, I cannot do that'.

My torch is lit, I'm ready to go down the hallway and get the monks robe, but 'no, I cannot do that'.

I also tried backing up to the save and starting from there again but nothing changed.

Once the torch is lit, the rats should go away.

Open the backpack and get the holy water, that should move you forward.

What? Like how? It's highlighted in inventory and it shows on the active screen when I'm clicking on the rats. There's not a way that V H actually puts the torch in his hand.
