I can't get the game to launch. Every time I try to launch it I get the message: "bout.exe has stopped working." There is no information on the King Art website and so far no one has responded on their forums. Can anyone please help. I've been looking forward all year to this game. Thanks.

I sincerely appreciate your help, but I discovered that website already and tried everything they said - to no avail.

Couldn't alter the config file because it wouldn't let me save after changing it. I do have a SoundBlaster sound card so I doubt that's the problem.

If the file is "read only," you'll have to change that attribute before editing the file. Right-click the file, choose Properties, and look for a checkbox for "read only" on one of the Properties tabs (I think it's the "General" tab).

It could still be a driver issue that could be fixed by setting a generic sound card in the config file.

I checked the file and it wasn't marked as "read only." I checked and unchecked the "read only" box just to make sure, but that didn't help any. I forgot to mention the game did load one time, right after I installed it, but never again. I uninstalled/reinstalled it and the same thing happened - it ran one time.

Ok, this is starting to get weird. I just tried to launch the game (at 5:30 in the morning!) and it worked. I exited out, tried to launch it again and it did ( feel like Twilight Zone music should be playing in the background.) Maybe I'll get to play the game after all. See what happens with fingers crossed.

This is for anyone out there that has a win7 64 bit os. I just talked to my son and he got it working for me last night after I went to bed. He said win7 has it's own game directory and IT IS a read only file. He changed the game directory so it was no longer a "read only" and then altered the config file as follows:

</config>
<sounddevice>Generic Software</sounddevice>

Apparently that did it!

Thanks for letting us know the solution. Apparently if you can't change a file which is not "read-only," you also need to check that the folder it's in is not "read-only."

I don't use Windows 7 for games, so I'm still learning this stuff myself.

I installed the game on my 64-bit Windows 7 yesterday and it installed and plays without a hitch. When I first install a game in Windows 7, I just let it install where the game tells it to - which is always Program Files x86. I know some people have needed to install in My Documents, but I haven't had one yet.

Once again, weeds are my life!
