I was able to load Dust on my XP using compatible mode. It worked all right except for the Start bar showing at the bottom. Now when I try to play it, everything is so large that I can't quit to save because it doesn't show. I am at the blackjack table and the quit line is not there. When I go to menu, I can click open but the bottom open doesn't show. Everything is so big.
Can anyone help me here? I will be so grateful! Luv, Joanie

Go back to Compatability Wizard and make the resolution smaller. Once you get it right, you won't have to do it again.

I had to do that too to play it.

Did you use Win95 or Win98 as OS?

I used Win95 w/smaller screen and 256 colors and no 3D (I believe that's the last option on the list).

Worked great!

I am at the point in the game where I must fight the bounty hunters. I killed all but the one on the roof of the saloon. I have tried all kinds of ways but no luck. I was not able to get the silver thing in the poker game and they wouldn't let me try again. I have only one save as every time I tried to save with a different name my first one would disappear. Now I don't know if I will get another chance to play poker IF I can ever kill this last bounty hunter. Please help me here!! I don't want to just give up but I am so stuck! Thank you for any help.
Luv, Joanie

Hi Joanie,

I have not played the game, so checked the archives. Hopefully this is where you are:

Betty Lou stated:
Went back to the save after killing first 2, instead of killing one by coffins then the one by the well I used a different approach - straight down main street to the jail, behind jail on left toward town gate and shot 1 dead, same street approached well from left and shot him dead too. Then proceeded on down street to the right all the way to Grant & Mission Streets and my gun worked just fine and I killed the one on the balcony no problem. (Too bad the game did not give more choices of approach, could have gone into SALOON and shot him through an upstairs window, or stood under him by Saloon door and shot up through the porch to get him.

Hope Betty Lou can get you through...

Thank you for going through all that trouble for me MaG. I haven't been able to get him yet. I just wonder if my not getting that silver thing is stopping me from getting him? I'll keep trying. Thanks again. Luv, Joanie

Joanie,

No that's not stopping you. You'll get to play poker again so don't worry.

I had the hardest time with the gun fight.

Thank you, that really does make me feel better. I just can't get him. I empty the gun at him and he just fires one and I'm dead. This happens no matter where I fire from. You don't by any chance have a saved game passed this part? I really do appreciate the helps.Luv, Joanie

I found a save game given to me by a nice gamer for somebody else - but the note that goes with it states:
saved game after Kid Fight. It is a little beyond the Kid Fight, but not by much. You have already talked with Sonoma and been to the classroom. I don't think too much has been done there.

So if this is anywhere near or if you want it - just yell.
