Thank you Sheriff

I am always excited to hear of a new Sherlock game from Frogwares and this announcement is no different except for when I read this article... http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-1...for-spring-2016
Quote:

By Jeffrey Matulef Published 20/10/2015

Sherlock Holmes series developer Frogwares has announced its next Baker Street-based detective affair with Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter, set for a spring 2016 release on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The Devil's Daughter will task Sherlock and Watson with solving five cases. "For the first time in his storied career, Sherlock Holmes' ruthless logic is overwhelmed by family stories, irresistible emotions and an occult revenge," the developer teased of this eighth chapter in Frogwares' sleuthing saga based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most popular creation.

Game mechanics will be varied, ranging from reflective puzzle-solving to reflex-based action sequences. It sounds as it it may be open-world, or at least close to that, as publisher Bigben Interactive's description noted that you can "freely roam an expansive landscape of playable terrain."

"reflex-based action sequences"??? Hope this isn't anything different than what little reflex action there has already been in other games.

I have both Crime and Punishments and The Testament for ps3. I loved the gameplay and graphics and getting to play on my tv instead of my laptop. I wish this was being released on the ps3 also. With this newest game only being on the ps4 and xbox one, that makes another reason i might have to pony up and buy a ps4 because i think it would be a shame to play some of these games on a laptop screen with how beautiful the graphics have gotten in the series.

I hope they keep some of the style of Crime and Punishments. I thought they way they allowed you interpret the evidence you found to accuse someone of the crime made it one of the best Sherlock Games they had made yet.

Thanks, Ana. Looks good. thumbsup I'm also hoping the action sequences aren't too bad, hopefully no worse than TellTale's. I'd still prefer the adventure style of the previous games. yes

"....ruthless logic is overwhelmed by family stories, irresistible emotions...."

To me, the Sherlock Holmes character has always been predominantly logical, with only a few hints of emotionality, or sentimentality. That's how I like him. There may have been a long-ago love interest, but it's a peripheral part of the stories.

Of course, as always, it'll be a 'wait and see' issue for me. First-person & point-and-click may make a sentimental Sherlock more palatable, but I really don't like the idea of turning him into a soap opera character whose feelings are in the forefront.

I got to say I have really really enjoyed crime and punishments. So if the Devils daughter is just as good I'm pre ordering it!

Shows how far we have come from Sherlock Holmes and the silver earring!

Silver Earring was still leaps and bounds ahead of Mystery of the Mummy
