I started playing the game, but instead of ending up in Realto, I'm in the desert.
I played Path to the Shell and ended up in Realto where I should be.
Should I have finished playing URU-Myst of Ages before playing the first expansion pack?

Granny -- as far as I know, you have to beat/finish the Cleft (desert) portion of the game before you can get to Relto. I wasn't aware that installing Path of the Shell would override this necessity.

Did you get to the part of the Cleft where you find your Relto book? After that, you can get to Relto whenever you want to just by using the Relto book.

You can play Path of the Shell first, but it will make more sense to you if you play at least part of the original Uru first -- particularly the Kadish Tolesa (tall trees, purple light) part.

Thanks, Becky. I played all of URU-The Myst, but I didn't finish Eder. When I replayed To D'ni, I ended up in my Realto, so that's good and I have all the books except Desert Cleft. Does that make a difference?

GrannyGamer, it is possible to play To D'ni without having finished URU Prime. You should have your Relto book down on the bottom left of the screen and you can use that to get to Relto so you can start.

But having said that, I would recommend that you finish URU before you go on--I think it would be less confusing all the way around. The final decision is up to you... luck

Granny - you don't get the Cleft book until after you've finished Uru Prime. You don't need it for To D'ni though.

If you're really frustrated with Eder, it might be nice to wander around D'ni for awhile, maybe even solve a puzzle or two before returning to Eder.

What do you think, Jenny? Would a short detour be too confusing?

No, it wouldn't make any drastic difference, Becky--at least I wouldn't think so.

When you get ready to do the geysers GG, let me know and I'll see if I can provide you with a list of where each one is. And if it's the one that sits all by itself on a pillar, the trick to that one is to walk when you are making the jump...

I have another problem with To D'ni so I will try this thread. I got all the pressure plates in the prison right and can see the book. When I go back out to the solar generator and down the metal walkway to the fallen mushroom I have tried running and jumping and pointing and you name it but cannot get to the other metal walkway to get to the metal dam area. There may be another way but I guess I am missing something in the WT. Any help would be appreciated. mad

You're right, there is another way. You'll have to open the door in the prison, go through the door that's in the same room as the levers (while you're in there, why not set the levers so that you only need to put one rock on a pressure plate to open the door the next time around?). That will lead you out to the other end of that broken walkway. When you get to the end, jump up and down--that will lower the walkway to the mushroom...

RJR, when going around to jump on that walkway, make sure that wooden drawbridge is all the way down. If you just jump at it and lower it half way, it will let you pass it one way but not the other. Pull the lever to ensure it's all the way down. Once you've done that, and lowered the metal walkway, you'll have a loop route around Teledahn.

GrannyGamer, go to the prison (where those pressure plates are) and open the door to go through into the area where the switches are. Go across to the closed left door and look through the bars--you should be able to see the book on a bench to the left of the door. But you can't reach it and if you open the door it disappears!

What you have to do is to go out past the pressure plates, leaving that door open, and go all the way around to near the place where you caught the sun. Go down the walkway to the giant mushroom, and if you have already lowered the walkway on the other side of the mushroom, you can take that up to the place where the book is located. If you haven't already lowered that walkway, you'll have to leave the prison and go out to the end of the walkway and jump up and down on it. That will lower it to the mushroom--then go back to the pressure plates and do what the first paragraph of this post suggests....

I'm so glad you're enjoying yourself--there are some beautiful places in the City. Be sure to check out what I call the Concert Hall--a round room with lovely music playing in it...

(Quote) Ask me how I learned that you have to do this, RRJRanch...

Ok, how did you learn that you had to do this? I still had to go back and forth about 10 times and I still didn't quite get what you meant by the advantage of one gate up, unless that lessens kicking those @##%% rocks around. I finally got around to the edge of the metal walkway by the mushrooom so I could jump up and down, was going to fast and fell off the end. duh Oh yea! I can't find the pub either. woozy

The Pub is a location in Ae'gura accessible when you reach the middle landing of the Great Stairs. Look for an opening with rubble on the left side of the landing with a path leading down. Go down to reach the Pub.

As for the small balcony, I think this accessed using a page in the Aegura book (in your relto) - Brown book with stylized tree.

The great stairs is that really, really, really long one that goes down to the ferry-docks area. There's 2 sets of stairs parallel to each other and has landings midway. On one of the (I think) 2 landings - there's a rubble pile on one end. Just jump down the pile of rocks. You will end up in a verrrry dark area. The bar is to the right at the bottom. smile

My KI lights up but I can never get it to beep let alone find a marker.
As you might have guessed, RJR, I spent a lot of time running back and forth because I hadn't lowered that walkway before I got to this point! luck

I'm having a great time, but trying to find the markers is slapforehead , because I really can't tell in which area I'm in. When I look for the markers, do I need to link from my Realto or the Nexus.

Now I am really confused. I found the additional 15 markers. Went back to calibrate and all appeared to be okay. I did stick my hand in there twice. Anyhow, I found the pub and got nothing on my KI. No signal at all. I also went to the Great Zero Courtyard and got nothing. I went to the next step which sends me back to Kadish Gallery. I got nothing there either. Did I mess up by sticking my hand in the calibration twice? duh

GrannyGamer, it doesn't matter where you link from to find the markers--some are in different areas of the City and some in the Neighborhoods.

RJR, you're not the only one who is confused--I can't figure out exactly where you are! blush First you said that you got the additional 15 markers, which implies to me that you have collected two sets of 15--is that correct? But then you said you still have five locations to find--after you have collected both sets of 15 markers, there are only four markers left. woozy

I don't think sticking your KI into the calibration machine twice would make any difference. If you have found two sets of 15 markers, after you calibrated the second set you should have a link in your Nexus called "Reezero", and you will be able to open the doors at the back of the Great Zero room. Go through them and down the stairs to the left. You'll see four machines in the room--you have to do these one at a time. Push the button and then stick your KI into the one closest to the window on the left, which will bring up a screen with some letters and numbers. When that comes up, PUSH THE BLUE BUTTON THAT IS ON THE SCREEN. (This is VERY important--without pushing the button, it won't work.) Now you should have just one lighted marker on your KI. Go to the Kadish Art Gallery and the marker circle should appear in the air for you to click on.

Once you've collected that marker, go back to Reezero and put your KI back into the left machine that is closest to the window. (You may also have to push the button again, I'm not sure on that point.) That will register that marker as collected--now move on to the machine on your right and follow the same process to get a different marker to find.... luck

Aah-Hah! slapforehead I went back and looked at the walkthru. There are a possible 25 locations on the WT of which I got 20. The first 5 and the second 15. I guess I am done and don't have to get all of them. I did go back and try to pick up the other 5 markers. No luck. The KI doesn't even show that I am close to the staircase where I know there was a marker previously. I did go to the back of the Great Zero (left hand side) pressed the blue button but still didn't think I registered anything on the KI. I will try again.
Thanks Jenny thanks

When you went to the back of the Great Zero, did you insert your KI into the machine and see a screen come up with a blue button? Push the blue button and your KI should show one little square for you to get a marker.

You can only get these one at a time...
