Adventuregamer,

Haven drawbridge puzzle:

I think the order is determined by the document in the "hunting lookout". This is the elevated hut that has the view of the totem that is covered by the little monkey creatures. There is a document that shows footprints of the various creatures.

I used the in-game hints for this which says:

Partial SPOILER !!

...the order of the symbols for the bridge puzzle is determined by the "food-chain" order of the different animals. In other words, start with the most dangerous animal (left symbol) and put them in decending order to the least dangerous animal.

Hope that helps...

msblue,

One other thing about the viewers. There really is not much to do with the images of Spire and Haven and Serenia.. just pretty pictures (unless there is something later in the game!). There is some value in hearing from Atrus from Rime via the imager.

keyboard music tunes, is way to hard...I don't know if I am doing it right...

When I get the first set, and the slider is up, can I go slide back down to set the other set of tunes...

Possible Spolier here

Is this the right sequence

6-12-4
3-1-7
10-5-5
12-12-12

maybe I have the sequence wrong..

What I am trying to say when I slide the first set
6-12-4 to set the second set, could I slide down the slider all the way and set the second, or can I slide up and down? I hope someone understands what I am trying to saw..becuase sometimes when you ajust the sets you don't have enough room to set the other set to go up..

Liz,

Spire - tuning the crystals:

Yes this was the most difficult one for me because of the timed nature. You have the order correct! Think of it this way:

- for the first set of three slider settings (6-12-4), the crystal will be "tuned" the moment you get that third slider on "4" and release it.

- what worked fastest for me was to then immediately re-grab the slider and drag it from "4" to "7" which is what the right-side slider needs for the second crystal tuning.

- then I jumped to the center slider and moved it from "12" to "1" (side note: this is a tricky one because you want to drag it all the way to the bottom, but be carefull...it is possible to pull the slider down BELOW the "1". The same is not true for the "12"s... you can shove the slider all the way to the top and it will lock on the "12"s). The the left slider, etc....

See what I mean? The moment the crystal is tuned and vibrating just move right on the the next settings... you have to be fast, because you need all four crystals vibrating at the same time to solve the puzzle.

Good luck,

Dadguy

I got a little behind. Decided to update driver and reinstall since I got that message. Which meant replaying everything and then on top of it all I still got the message (have the ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256) Not having any problems so I guess I won't worry about. Just my anal personality at work. Anyway, I've got the power, fireplace and crystal done. Haven't visited any ages yet because I'm not sure if I should. Can I access Yeesha's bedroom now? Or do I have to go to an age. I haven't found it yet but if it's available now I'll look some more...
Thanx- Margie
PS amazing thread- great to see everyone enjoying this game. I love it so far. Don't know what it is about the Myst games that set them apart but hope we don't have to wait so long for the next one.

Margie, you can explore a little. It's so beautiful in Tomahna at night. Look around the living quarters and visit Yeesha's bedroom. Read all of the books and play with the stove in the kitchen. Click the necklace whenever you hear that music cue when viewing objects.

When you are ready, head to Spire or Haven.

Thanks dadguy, you answered my question right on the nose..

What I was doing was on the middle when it was on 12, I was bring it down all the way and going back up to 1, and the same with the others...

now, I hope I got a better understanding...

Let you know if i get it..Liz

Philby, the crystal just shakes. Unfortunately, it shakes a little when you get close (like, one off of the correct setting), so you have to be diligent to get it on the right numbers. There are no lights or tones to tell you it is "tuned". If you move on to the next crystal and the last crystal still vibrates, then that means you hit the code properly.

Have fun!

Liz,

Yay!!!!! It feels good, eh??

You are now in Haven. This is the prison of Achenar. He's a scary guy too.

Go ahead and explore the shipwreck. That's a good place to start. Achenar lived there for a while.

Quest on!

Geesh, I should have paid more attention to my science classes. woozy

I saw the blurb on the power in Spire. I found 2 power supplies and am assuming they both need to be set in order for the ship to fly.

The one power supply is confusing. Thats the one you go down the hole for quite a ways before dumping out on a platform that faces the building in the telescope. Do I have to have all the lights lit. I got so far and the thingy opened up and a partial track that looks like a roller coaster came out. Not all the lights were lit on the panel so I thought I had more to do. Any comments?

The other thing I didn't do was press the button to get the 2 journals in Atrus' bedroom. slapforehead Does anyone think it is worth going back?

I haven't gotten far enough to answer your first questions, but the journals in Atrus' bedroom contain two more pictures of crystals. Putting them into the viewer will get you pictures from two ages--whether or not that is all it will do, I don't know yet...

That's pretty much where I am too Skippidy--spooky place, isn't it? In my wandering around, I've found a panel that completely baffles me!!! But it's going to have to wait until tomorrow, because I have some other stuff to do yet tonight...

The Cerpatee is the white square.
The Camoudile is the 3 triangles at 10:00, 2:00, 6:00.
The Mangee is four triangles, 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, 9:00.
The Karnak is two triangles at 12:00, 6:00.
The Zephyr is two squiggley white globs with a diagonal "S"-like line between them.

How do you like that description for the Zephyr?

Have fun.

Been through Haven and slugging my way through Spire. How do you get back to the linking books in Spire if one wants to re-visit Tomahna before finishing Spire?

Just go back up the stairs and you'll see the linking book in that blown-up prison. If you just got there, I don't think there's a way till you get the elevator up and running, if I'm not mistaken. If you do enough snooping after completing a few of the puzzles, you'll find a way to get back up those stairs. I just can't remember the exact directions at this point. =)

JoanieS,

I think I was able to ride the elevator (the one that is opposite the spider chair, and the same one that is available from the garden/living quarters level) all the way up to the level where you can retrace your way to the top of the stairs and link out. I never actually walked up, but I rode the elevator to that level. Try that.

Viz, the best way I can tell you is...Start at the shipwreck and take the route straight until you get to a left path, and keep on that path, you will see the mangree all over the place, on trees, and when you hit a dead end, move your cursor down over the red grass, you can move some of that grass over to the side, I think you have to do it twice..

this is the best description I can give you..since I am lost looking for the creature puzzle, and the camoudile puzzle..

In the hint system has a map of Raven..see if you can follow it..
