Hi,

I know it's been a while, but I can use all the good wishes I can get.

The medical benefits from my divorce ended last year. Between my part-time job and maintenance $ from my ex, I don't qualify for Obamacare. Although I don't much care for it, I am grateful that, due to law, my employer had to make a low cost HMO from BCBS. It's the most narrow coverage they have but it's better than nothing. Thing is, my portion of the month payments has significantly lowered my take home pay. I had some funds stashed away to cover real estate taxes, then my HVAC needed to be change. During the inspection for purchase of my home, I was told the 20 yr old unit was good for another 2-3 yrs. Guess what, those years have gone by and bingo.

Anyway, I'm looking to find some kind of at home work that I can do a 5 or so hrs a week to supplement. If anyone happens to know or hear of anything, please pass it on to me.

I'm also working with the Career Services area of the college where I work and am overwhelmed with how job searches are done now. Last time I did my resume was 16 yrs ago. Now I feel like I'm trying to learn how to swim but instead of a swimming pool, the only place available is an ocean.

thanks so much wave2

Most of those types of jobs are either pyramid schemes or not legitimate. Have you tried a staffing agency? There are plenty in our area and they do the work for you at the cost of the employer, not you.

Good luck to you!

The Career Services area of the college where I work acts as a 'staffing agency' of sorts. Several websites have been suggested leading to other sites, so I keep checking with them to make sure I don't get caught with a problem. They know how to check for legitimacy so I'm counting on them for that aspect. Did consider asking the college itself for extra hrs but my position is of paid by federal funds and mandates the limited hours; and the Governor's lack of $ support for state run colleges is wreaking havoc so no chance of anything from that ange.

So sorry to hear things are going downhill for you for awhile. Praying and sending you positive vibes that things will work out for you. I think that by telling people what's going on, you might find someone that will help. Don't be shy. People are out there waiting for someone to need them. Hope things work out for the better SOON. And if it's any help, when my hubby left me long ago, EVERYTHING in my house broke down. Fridge, washer, vacuum, microwave, car, everything needed fixing and I had nothing to fix all that with. Somehow I survived and I'm not sure how, except that everyone I knew was supportive after I finally mustered the courage to tell them my 'story'.

Hang in there! hearts

I have a wonderful work-at-home part time job with Working Solutions. They provide cust. svc. reps to many different companies. Since I had experience selling travel, I work for Expedia/Egencia 25 hours or more a week. You can work for other companies that are not travel companies though. You are a contractor and not an employee, so you get no benefits and pay your own income taxes. You must have a computer and a telephone line. They train you. I have worked for them for 2 years and have no problems. Google them if you're interested.
Good luck! Andrea wave2
Edit: I know of no company that will accept only 5 hours a week.

luv2travel, thanks for the info; I'll definitely check it out; customer rep isn't my thing but who knows?

Sorta, thank you, too, for you encouragement. I have put the word out to close friends, so we'll see. Also looking at which costs I'm willing to cut. I know it's temporary, just a new situation for me. Now I wish I'd fought for the maintenance amount that was first agreed to before HE blech started crying, but I was so eager to get the divorce over with I didn't care. I've friends who had worse results from their divorce so I still count my blessings. Just something to accept and work with. No matter what, I'm determined to keep my home. puppy
