Hopefully some players here will be able to offer some opinions. One thing you should know is that the game has very high system requirements.

It is not a traditional point & click but you play with WASD buttons and you stear with the mouse.
I like the environments and the gameplay but there was also somthing I didn't like so much.

Click to reveal..
There are very much teleportations and take to much time.

I like the game but you need, like Marian said, good system requirements.

The game settings let you choose between a Free-Roam mode (WASD) and a Point & Click mode. I've experimented with the Point & Click mode, but found it less immersive. I haven't finished the entire game, but so far the exploration aspect, high-grade graphics, challenging puzzles and involved story have all made it enjoyable. The system requirements are pretty high, but I've gotten by with somewhat reduced resolution & graphic settings.

I point, therefore I click.

I enjoyed Obduction but it's the type of game you have to pay close attention to and take
notes throughout - at least I did.

Once you obtain the map of the world you're in it starts to fit together. I have to admit I buy games
like this - similar to Myst - because I enjoy puzzle type games without bloodshed and am finding more
independent games to buy.

This is a trailer for the game just in case you haven't seen it yet.

I decided to try playing this today and after a 1/2 hour I felt quite ill! I hope I might be able to play in small spurts and maybe get used to it. I hope it saves on exit as I read on Steam.

I "think" you can play this in point and click mode too, oldbroad.

Myst V had the same issue -- the "point and click" mode did nothing to reduce motion sickness, and in my case made the motion sickness worse than the keyboard/mouse mode.

The "point and click" mode was not a "snapshot-style" mode. Each click would violently whip you around and/or zip you forward, leaving your stomach far behind. The "point and click" mode was made for people who couldn't handle keyboard/mouse controls, not for people who get motion sickness from 3D movement.

Some people suggest adjusting the "field-of-view" control in Obduction (something that wasn't available in Myst V). It never did anything for me -- only made the screen look weird -- but apparently it helps some people.

Now that you say it, I remember that in Myst V. It was pretty awful.

I don't remember getting sick in Myst V. This game just brings you too "up close" which is what gets me to feeling sick. I get a little dizzyish but it really goes straight to my stomach!

Maybe I will try adjusting the "field-of-view" and see how that works. I also may try not using the point and click mode because it might be more controllable that way.

I finally felt able to try the game again. Free roam is definitely better than point and click. At least I can control my speed of movement that way. Played 45 minutes today. This is going to be a loong game lol.

I have the voice volume up all the way but can barely hear them talking. Have to hold my headphones pushed into my ears and read the text to hear them. Crazy!

I finally finished this game. I started using the walkthrough near the end of Chapter 6 (of 8), mostly because I was getting so tired of all the long, long travel times, both on foot and via transporters. Load times were long even in the recommended SSD drive. I clocked over 100 hours, probably 75% of that was traveling from one place to another. If I was a smarter person, I guess I would not have had to go back and forth quite so much. I probably would have had another 50 hours (or more) without using the walkthrough. Not sure if I could have figured everything out without the walkthrough though. This was definitely NOT one of my favorite games! I guess I'm glad I played it though.

Congratulations on your persistence, oldbroad. I know I would have been going back and forth a lot too. Over a hundred hours! Whew. smile
