i play now,(uru ages beyond myst),i am now with the game
middle of,(gahreesen age),i must jump from the platform,to
a rock,problem is the rock is higher then the platform,thats
why,i tried to jump and also run,nothing works,please HELP

Hi samuel, I am going to wait and let someone who is familiar with this help you out.

I googled your problem and found entire forum threads devoted to people having problems jumping in this part of the game, with some claiming that it was all a matter of technique/strategy while others were accusing the game of being glitchy. I even found one Uru jumping video on YouTube, and there may well be more.

That's why I think it's better if another Uru player gives you some advice.

Samuel, have you tried jumping more on the side of the rock on a path that is lower and that goes up to the top of the rock?

Samuel I have played this game more than once and always had difficulty making that jump.

This is how to make the jump:

Stand a few steps back from the edge of the rotating platform so you can make a running jump. Wait till the rock is just coming into view then jump to the lower path when it is almost in front of her - do not wait for the path to be exactly in front it should be a little to your right when you jump because the platform is moving by the time you jump you will land on the path.

Remember to take a running jump to lower walkway on the side - do not try to land on top of rock and remember that you start your jump BEFORE the path is exactly in front of you because by the time you jump the rotation of bridge will have moved and you should land safely.

Timing the jump is the key to success. Do not wait for the landing to be in front of you jump before you see it!

You can find it at: www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl it is a Dutch website but there is a English section and there you can find walkthroughs for all the Myst games.

my dear people,i used all kind of help,you gave me,and PROBLEM
remains,PROBLEM,all i can say is,i have played this game,in the
past many times,and i allways had problems with this jump,but
at the end i allwayes made it,thats why i tried it now again
but now problems are too high,so i started to think what was
diferent from then to now,in my computer,and let me tell you
i had a video chip integrated,in the motherboard,wich worked for
me as a video card,and since this game is also a very old game
from,(2003),it therfore worked good,with a lot of other games
but since newer games did not want to work,i installed a
separate good video card,with wich i can now play much more games,my question is,if this can be the problem,please help me

If the game plays just fine for you otherwise, then I can't imagine how that could create a problem.

You're probably just doing it wrong.
You're not supposed to jump to a "higher" place.

I now remember this place. I did it on my computer with a fairly good video card at the time and although I tried more than once, I had no problems making the jump. You do have to time it just right.

people,please understand,i am playing this game for about a week
i listend to all your ideas from above,i jumped about more then
100 times,i never landed on the rock,by evry jump,i fell of in
the darkness,and i could not find the reason for it,but now it
came into my head,to press the,(F1),key wich makes from a 3rd
person view,to a one person view,this way is much better to find
the reason,for not landing on the rock,the reason is because the
platform,and the rock,are a bit too far from each other,i saw this with my eyes,while i was in 1st person view,the game company became aware that this game,is not compatible with some
video cards,so they released a patch,wich i also installed,but
for me it does not help,so what can i still do now

Not having played the game, I have no additional advice to offer.

However, I did find some saved games here. Take a look through those and see if there is something there that could help you out.

Are you running before you jump?
You need to stand a bit back from the end of the platform so you have room to start running before you jump. Then time your jump so the rock will be in the right place with respect to the rotating platform.

If you're trying to do a standing jump, it's no wonder you can't make the jump.
Just like real life, you get a lot more distance with a running jump than a standing jump.

Sometimes switching the view, I think it is F1, will help with certain jumps.

dear marian,i am very happy to tell you,that i finished 2 parts
of the game,also from 10 jumps i was successful with 7,but let
me tell you,i found at gog's website someone describing the very
same as i complain,that the major fault is the video card,this
man have in the bios,a setting,wich enables/disables,wich video
card,he wants to use,so he disabled the plug in video card,
using the motherboard video chip,he claims since he made this change,he does not know from problems anymore,he jumps,etc..
and i did the very same thing,and i think,that this was the reason for finishing,the 2 parts of the game,but i am not so sure about it,thats why i wait untill i will finish this game
then i will change back,to my newer video card,i will play this game again then i will know for sure,whats what,but meantime i
am using the 2,very great helps,day after day,wich is listed
