Hi fellow Boomers,
I purchased this game from Steam. When launching the game I get an error message saying that this game will not run (or words to that effect). Then I get a popup from my McAfee virus protection stating that it found and quarantened a virus. As usual, Steam "support" is useless. Maybe there might be a "workaround" for this problem, and if so, I hope any of you who have played this one successfully can pass on the solution,if any.

Usually these Virus protection programs have an "exception list" which will bypass scanning programs entered on this list. If you feel that this program is probably safe from previous experience with Steam, you could put this game on that list.You could also set a restore point in Windows so if things go wrong you can go back in time to that restore point.

There are a few posts about this on the Steam forum for the game; that virus message is a false positive.

Somewhere in your antivirus program there's a way to put the game on an exclusion list so that the antivirus will ignore the game's files and run the game anyway. It's not difficult - you just need to know where to look. Hopefully someone here familiar with McAfee can help you out on this one, although googling would probably help you find that information too.

I really, really don't like McAfee and don't use it, but I found several hits in a Google search. This one is a video for the 2018 Suite.

In the Steam Forums I looked at, this problem has never been resolved, so I requested a refund, and next day, in my e=mail, I received notice that I DID get the refund. credited back to my charge card. The game is no longer in my Steam library. Apparently, Steam is aware of the problem with this game. Thanks for your input,though, much appreciated.

I, and several others, once bought a game from Steam that wouldn't play on any of our machines and we all contacted Steam about it.

None of us ever even got an answer, so certainly not a refund

Steam has become MUCH more responsive to these issues. Their track record in the past wasn't the best to put it mildly!

Well, considering the issue I've already mentioned, and others besides, I removed Steam from my machines a very long time ago.

As far as I'm concerned they've totally "cooked their goose"

Now that I have received the refund, I went to Amazon, took a chance to buy it for almost $7 from them, downloaded the game to my PC, and to my surprise, it's running PERFECTLY. The specs don't mention WIN 10 which is my OS, but I'm not having a problem, also running it in full screen.
i found at least three good Text walkthroughs, printed one out, and I'm in business.
I guess that if any of our Boomers would like to play this one, try the Amazon download version, now that I know it's "safe" to do so. HAPPY GAMING!

Glad you are able to play the game sanford. I looked on Amazon and it said "currently unavailable"?? Anyway, Enjoy! I played the Steam version on my Windows 7 computer a few years back with no problem.

Hi Odbroad, before signing on to my account, it DID say "unavailable", but after connecting to my account, all of a sudden it IS available? That's when I made my purchase. WHEW!
