An interesting review Flotsam. Reading it I thought Detective Di sounded familiar, then remembered a series of novels by Robert Van Gulick about a certain Doctor Dee who is based on Di Renjie. There are quite few Doctor Dee novels if you're into that sort of thing.

I didn't know that Winx - will check them out
