Welcome back.
I didn't enjoy playing adventure games on iPad so eventually stopped buying and playing them.
I much prefer playing the same games on PC (assuming they are available).
There are a few first person games, like The Room 1, 2, and 3 that are above average, but you've probably already heard of The Room.
There were a couple of series, like The Haunt and Forever Lost that I thought were OK.
I don't know if they're still available. The iPad has an unfortunate habit of changing its operating system so older games (and other iPad software) don't work anymore, and if the developer doesn't bother updating the game you've lost your game.
I have tried looking for traditional adventure games that can be played on an ipad ( or Android). Most games i found have been pretty disappointing, with lots of useless clicking to advance the story and very few puzzles.
Yes, and if they remake an adventure game for iPad they usually remove puzzles and locations that were in the original PC version. There were a few exceptions, like Myst, Riven, and Inner World, that seemed to maintain their integrity. But games like Atlantis II and III, Road to India, and all the remakes of the Kheops games (like Nostradamus) have been so evicerated that they are not worth playing.
Most get interupted by ads for other games. For example I tried Criminal Minds based on the TV show, and a detective game calles Criminal Case. Both games require you to revisit the same scene over and over to earn “stars” to advance the story. (Even if you’ve already met all the goals of a particular scene, you have to keep looking at the same stuff over and over to earn “stars”. Why would you keep looking after you already found whar you were looking for?)
Yes. Too many iPad games have gimmicks like that.
No effort put into making a game.
Once I pay for a game I do not want to see any ads.
Not in the game menu and especially not during gameplay.
If you have an android, I think there is a DOSBox version (DOSBox Turbo) that would allow you to play some old DOS games on the Android. There is also ScummVM for Android. If you have an iPad you'd have to jailbreak it before installing any version of DOSBox or ScummVM, and that's not something I'd not want to mess with.
Sorry I can't really suggest any good games.
